Coolermaster V10 Review @ Driverheaven

Read The Review Here
_____________________

For some time now Cooler Master has been releasing larger than life CPU coolers which rarely disappoint and are always competitively priced. Recently they announced the V10, a cooler which features a design inspired by supercharged engines which purportedly cools CPUs with TDP up to 200w.

Is it a step too far, or not far enough? Read on to find out as we compare it to the current market leader, CoolIT’s Domino A.L.C.

Great review Stu and the large size and awkward installation aside it does what it claims to ... cool

This wouldn't work with my OCZ Reaper X ram I don't think and as far as the Grench I got one with my Hyper212 ... handy

Re: Coolermaster V10 Review @ Driverheaven

yeah i wasn't planning on getting any of the huge memory modules when i got my v10..

But i've had a bitch of a time swaping memory modules.... basically i've been reduced to basically getting the memory wiggled into place.. then using a yard stick to push them into place... i can't get my hands in around the sucker at all to reach the memory.

Kinda interesting that it doesn't even look like the TEC unit is even working at all, I've heard reports that some peoples V10's TEC were faulty, and had to be replaced under warranty. It definitely should have kicked in at 80+*C

Re: Coolermaster V10 Review @ Driverheaven

The tec was working for those results, 1.55v is a massive amount to put through a 965EE really and when its working full tilt at 4.35GHz a massive amount of heat is generated. Would hate to think what would happen to the CPU if I turned off the tec at those settings.

Re: Coolermaster V10 Review @ Driverheaven

to me the coolit is the no brainer here. signicantly cheaper, way easier installation, more options as far as mem goes & case size, & the perf when it really matters- under load- just isnt big enuff to justify the price diff & the rest of the hassles.
while not major, i do believe the mem issue is a perf problem. most low timings, high speed mem use the bigger heat sinks(in fact i would be wary of any ram that was performance ram that didnt have good heatsinks on it). to me if you are going to be going for the big oc U are going to want really good, fast, stable ram. it appears that this unit is going to be severly limiting in that area.
never have handled one & the only info i have is this review & judas pics, wich is why i was neg about it then so jmo.
to tell the truth, i just dont like the looks of it. & definetly wouldnt want something that massive in my nice, clean, well laid out, unobstructed case. lol

bty, tyvm for well done review

Re: Coolermaster V10 Review @ Driverheaven

i was just looking at that cooler again & it looks to me like it could have probs with some of the higher end mb's & their custom cooling solutions.
what do u guys think from your hands on?

Re: Coolermaster V10 Review @ Driverheaven

well considering some of the highend motherboards, the heigth and space this v10 gives leaves plenty of room.... it's not big around the major parts.... very specious imo.... but it's big and bulky looking... it's actually MUCH roomier then the XP-90 and XP-120 that i've had.... better ram clearance.... just not going to work with any ram modules that have huge heatsinks on them.

Re: Coolermaster V10 Review @ Driverheaven

Hehe, nice review

It's only so expensive, that's the main bummer in my opinion. The V8 also had a hefty price tag...

Luckily there are some good RAM modules with standard heatsinks. Like Crucials or OCZ...

Don't have this cooler but do own a Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 and an ASUS P5E3 Deluxe and see no clearance issues with the chipset coolers from this review.

Re: Coolermaster V10 Review @ Driverheaven

Nope the GA-X38/48/58 would have absalutely ZERO issues with this cooler.... i've had all 3... plus a number of other specific brands in highend and low end.. i don't think there is a single board out there specifically that i've touched that would have a problem with the v10
