AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition & HIS/XFX Radeon 4770 Graphics @ DH
7850 Black Edition & Radeon 4770 Review
___________________________________ There has been a steady stream of processor releases from AMD in recent times. Whether it is revisions of triple and quad core models or the addition of DDR3 parts to the product line there has always been something new to look at regularly. Two weeks ago we took a look at the latest high end Phenom 2, the 955 and now AMD have another release for us to cover. The Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition.

Read through this quick and will read it more thoroughly tonight when I have more time. Great review Stu and both products perform as they should.
On the points brought up concerning product naming and consideration to AMD consumers in the the final section well said and I agree

A very good review of two products that will probably be interesting to a large number of buyers. (myself included if I decide to spend most of my savings on a new PC
, may not be the brightest idea at the moment though ) I was glad to see that they both did well in all areas, from performance to feature set to working temperatures and that they offer really good value for money. One thing that seemed strange to me was the choice of logarithmic scale for the Fritz 11 performance chart on page 10. At first glance it looks as if all of the CPUs performed at the approximately same level even though the high end parts were actually more than twice faster than the low end ones. EDIT: Oh I get it, if it weren't so, the "Relative" performance would not be visible at all, so everything's just fine the way it is. :me_blonde: |

realy unfortunate that the asus M4A79 asus board has the 2 pci-ex slots beside each other at the bottom of the board.... as i'm REALLY tempted to buy 4 of those suckers just to see how well quad crossfire would work with them.

Re: AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition & HIS/XFX Radeon 4770 Graphics @ DH
I think it was a bit unfair to compare the chip to a Celeron E1400, considering that a quick look over a ocUK shows the retail of the X2 7850 as being about the same as the Intel E5200, which while still probably a little slower isn't completely rubbish unlike the Celeron.
Still, when I saw the price of the thing I almost fell off my chair, how the hell speedy little Dual Cores can be made so cheaply nowadays? It is truly the age of cheap computing. Still, I recently upgraded from an E4500 (Budget at the time for £80) to a Q9400 so I have left the pure budget realms behind, but it nice to see that people on a tight budget can create a decent gaming system for cheap. In fact, just for fun I decided to configure what I would call a decent gaming setup for cheap, and boy, was it cheap (No OS as people can legally use Windows 7 until March 2010, and by then, they should buy that :P): Asus ATI Radeon HD 4770 512MB PCI-Express - Retail (21149-00R) £79.34 AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 7850+ Black Edition 2.80GHz (Socket AM2+) - Retail + Battleforge Game £55.98 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3250410AS) £37.94 Foxconn M61PMV nForce 430 (Socket AM2/AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £36.79 Hiper 425W HPU-4S425 Silent ATX2.01 Power Supply £33.98 Asus TM-261 Case - Black/Silver (No PSU) £25.29 OCZ Platinum Revision 2 XTC 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Series (OCZ2P800R22GK) £19.99 Samsung TS-H353B 16x DVD-ROM SATA (Black) - OEM £11.99 Sub Total : £262.00 Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with: DPD Next Day Parcel (This can be changed during checkout) Shipping : £12.50 VAT is being charged at 15% VAT : £41.18 Total : £315.68 Now, who needs a console for gaming when you can buy a tower of power for that cheap. Kudos to AMD for not only making the super cheap X2 7850, but also for the HD 4770!

I am a multi GPU freak...(more the merrier to me)
But I read that ATI will not support more than 2 of the 4770s in Crossfire... |
