Nehalem EP used the same D0 core as that found in the new 920 which left the top performing 965 processor on the older C0 revision. Rather than change the CPU to bring it up to date Intel are once again pushing the market forward with the release of the Core-i7 975 Extreme Edition and we will be putting it through its paces in a selection of mainly real world tests to establish how much of an improvement it is over the existing models in the range.

Probably exceeds 1000 euro/dollar/pounds... Kinda outta my budget.

awesome performance. I can't believe how far ahead Intel are in regards to media encoding.

Great review and another nice CPU from Intel. Overclocks well and the temps are decent even with air cooling.

. cept u arent kicking its ass as it reached a higher oc than yours did... i may be wrong but isnt it(the 975) a tad faster when all settings are equal?
for the price tho think i like your result better.

i could get what you got and more but it requires i go ice water as the temps are just to much.

i have benched at 4.6ghz with this cpu

hey, I didn't review it, not my setup. ive two of them anyway (nehalem EP) so unless you magically sprout another one you have a little to go

I saw the 975 for as low as 870 euros, way cheaper than I had expected. Still expensive though for a cpu. ^^

quite a few people emailed me saying they would be buying one, so there is certainly quite an audience for a high end CPU, perhaps more so on Driverheaven due to our high income audience.

my cost is 1424 before taxes on that cpu......

which i can build a pretty damn decent entire computer for that price

Our 4524mhz on the 975 was 24/7 stable and not on ice... I did go higher but we only publish stable OCs. The 975 is a great CPU and as good as your 920 is there is no way its getting anywhere near it

What makes you the expert

give me extreme water or nitrogen and i will give you a run for your money

this cpu i have does 3.2ghz on 0.93v

HT enabled fully stable

But really this CPU would be so sweet to have!. Windows 7 is going to take advantage of the extra threads in the i7 and should make for an outstanding set up!! To bad I can't get one...

Get this with 12gigs of ram and you would be set for a while
