Arctic Cooling MX-3 vs. GELID GC-2 @ DH

Arctic Cooling MX-3 vs. GELID GC-2
_____________________________

For those building a new system or upgrading a cooler on their processor a decent thermal paste can knock a few degrees off the temperature of major system components. For quite some time Arctic Cooling were the industry leader in thermal material with their impressive MX-1 and more recently MX-2 - however a new company, Gelid, hit the market with an excellent alternative in the form of GC-1 about a year ago. Since then GC-1 and MX-2 have been competing for our hard earned money but things are about to get a little more interesting as both manufacturers are refreshing their product line. Gelid have GC-2 heading to stores across the world now and we have an exclusive preview of Arctic Cooling’s MX-3 which aims to be the best performing compound available.

Perfect timing on this review and nice job on the video showing viscosity Stu

Before I am finished with the mods on the Tempest case I will probably need a couple of tubes for all the sinks. It is looking like MX-3 here to try out.

Once added to a system it should not need to be re-applied for at least 8-years.

Nice review! I really like seeing this new award system in action. Looks like I'll be picking up some MX-3 soon to reseat my waterblock.

does this include reseating of cooling solutions?

Nice review by the way. Does anybody else find it weird the temperatures go down with higher overclocks..?
And I always thought the pre-spreading of the thermal paste was better than a sigle droplet in the middle which is spread through pressure of the heatsink?

I secretly was hoping for a WTF award simply because it's that hilarious.

If you could world exclusively send me some, and a new Heatsink for my 955BE I'd totally love you :P

My Coolit Dominos Screw just snapped as I was putting new Arctic Silver down (Because I had to relap the thing) And well.. I'm back on stock cooler, and crying. Took me 2 hours to get tweezers in and manually grab 1/8th twist and repeat...

but the stuff does look awesome....

Different coolers were used for the stock and OC test to simulate different needs. The wording on that page explains it all.

I have the same opinion, Arctic cooling disagree

They do have Tuniq TX-3 though. I've read speculation in the past that Tuniq TX-2 and AC MX-2 were the same stuff, so it's possible that the same holds true for MX-3/TX-3. It would be interesting to see a comparison test between the two. I haven't seen MX-3 for sale anywhere yet, at least not in the US.
