Sharkoon FireGlider Laser Gaming Mouse Review @ DH

Read The Review Here
________________
Today we are going to look at the FireGlider Laser Gaming Mouse from Sharkoon which promises to impress even the most demanding gamers. It is about half the price of a lot of gaming mice on the market but well soon see how its performance compares.

looks pretty nice at that price.
glad to know its well built, that's my main complaint with my WolfKing.
i sometimes get over-eager when i game and squeeze a bit, and it creaks like its about to explode into bits in my hand

btw, does it only come in that garish red flame effect ickiness ??
or is there a nice plain black one for those of us with some taste ?

Unfortunately black is not a colour option, but it appears it was already mentioned to them and they are looking at the possibility of releasing a 'plain' version.

It looks awesome with this price , I dunno why most manufactures go with USB interface over PS/2 , I had some conflicts with bios when using those mice .

Because the amount of data actually exceeds the limitations of the port. And you also run into Errors with it actually missing entire blocks of signal responses (meaning skipping) You can still use a USB -> ps2 adapter and find out, if you're getting conflicts, put it in the 2nd usb slot, (the top slot on the right) That and #1 is where the bios looks first for usb devices.

Manufactures go with USB interface over PS/2 because gaming mouses should have faster and more realibility response during mouse movement and acceleration. DPI can be controlled much easier through USB againt PS/2 (I read somewhere about that long time ago, but I am not convinced so much in that).

Re: Sharkoon FireGlider Laser Gaming Mouse Review @ DH

It's not so much the DPI is the problem, because the renderer is actually set within the mouse (on high end mice with built in engines) but like I said, PS/2 Simply can not handle the bandwidth. When you set the DPI you're upping the signal and therefore bandwidth that needs to be sent to the bus, and that's why they moved to usb. Anyhow, Acceleration and skipping issues are due to limited bandwidth on the ps2/2 bus (which is only slightly younger then the AT interface)

You can test it yourself by using the adapter and trying different settings, I can guarantee your skips will come from the highest dpi settings.
