I wish Nvidia would release some killer gpu's so the prices would have to drop

$600 = €600 which is way too much I can spare for a videocard..

The cheapest I can find it here is 565 euros (Sapphire) which is way way too expensive. If I remember correctly the 8800GTX when released was in the high 400s which was way too much and this is perhaps 70-80 more.
cut 200 euros off the price and we talk.

Seriously guys the 5870 is a card true enthusiasts MUST have, my next rig is going to be an intel quad msi/foxconn(Asus not available where I live) mobo and an ati 5870.

For a few posts above about the folding client (folding@home, I would presume) I think it can take advantage of the whole card. First of all, if you didn't already know, there is a GPU client download page. It's under High Performance Clients at the bottom of the downloads page. If you have a Radeon 5970, or any multi-GPU card, there are some detailed instructions on how to get it to run on all the GPU's at once. I don't know if the 5000 series works with folding@home, but I would guess it would. You download your high performance client and the follow instructions at this link: http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-ATI2#ntoc18
That will take full advantage of the multi-gpu cards. Hope that helps for any folders out here who stumble upon this. As for anyone else, consider running folding@home on your computer or even PS3. It only takes a few minutes and then you don't have to do anything. Just let it run and whenever the machine would otherwise be idle, instead you'll be helping to cure diseases like Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes, and more! And I just gave you instructions for it to take full advantage of gaming computers' awesome power! Ok that's all. I don't want to get braggy so I'll stop here. Please run folding@home. Idle computers, changing the world!
