The jolly green giants Nvidia recently blocked PhysX support when an ATI board is included in a system build for graphics rendering.

The latest version of the PhysX system software also prevents physics processing cards from working if any other card apart from Nvidia is being used. Many people have been debating whether Nvidia are breaking some ethical conduct by forcing these rules on the end user.

Fear ye not, because a guy going by the name of GenL on the NGO forums appears to have patched Nvidia's 'disable if ATI card is present' PhysX code.

I think it just enables you to run physx if you have primary Ati card + secondary nVidia card just like before nvidia disabled this function.

I am a Nvidia user and prefer their cards. However if I remember rightly, Nvidia stated that they would allow systems with ATi cards to run the PhysX software - even on ATi boards.

As I understand it, this is what Nvidia originally said. It would be up to ATI or a third party to provide PhysX support for non-Nvidia cards.

However, since then it has become apparent that Nvidia has changed its mind.

Also, I remember a while ago there was a rumor that some guy managed to get PhysX actually running on an ATI card. I guess it was just a rumor, though.

everyone jump on it imo..... i was thoroughly pissed off when i tracked everything down when i first started my physx with ati primary card compaign and found out nvidia purposely disabled it..
