Asus Launch 15.6" 120hz laptop - nVidia 3d Vision

Asus are releasing the new G51J-GZ028V laptop, a limited edition Republic of Gamers machine which aims to provide a full stereo 3d gaming experience. The machine is bundled with a pair of wireless 3D glasses which can be recharged over USB and it weighs 3.5k, measures 395x277x44mm and is supplied in a black and blue scheme with an illuminated keyboard, Altec Lansing speakers, Express Gate instant on OS and a two megapixel webcam.

The big talking point however is the 120hz LED backlit LCD screen which is sure to appeal to the high end tech lovers who must have the latest technology at their fingerips.

The machine is fleshed out with a 1.6ghz Core i7 720QM processor which is a 45nm Lynnfield CPU, 4GB of DDR3 memory and a 640GB HD, with options for two hard drives. Graphics are handled by the GTX 260M with 1GB of memory and there is also a Blu Ray option for media fanatics. Other options such as 8 in 1 card reader, eSATA, HDMI ports, gigabit ethernet, WiFi and Bluetooth are supported and the unit is suppled with a 6 cell battery.

The Laptop will ship with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and is set to ship late November, just in time for the Christmas sales. No details on price have been announced yet but we will keep you posted.

Fantastic in every spot , but I think the screen should be 17" to enjoy all the juice and i7 1.6 GHZ is a little disappointing but maybe they also cared about power consumption and heat generated. That's why I'll wait till release and see how is the battery life.

Looks great, but, why only 4GB of ram instead of 6 and why 1.6Ghz?

If its the Core i7 8xx mobile series rather than 920 it is ok. 1.6ghz would probably be chosen to keep heat in check with this particular chassis, should still be fast enough for gaming.

Heck, I'd love 120Hz even if just for desktop work. Or are they perhaps only using it to essentially display two 60Hz pictures at once in 3D mode?
