Google Introduce free Powermeter tool in UK

Google are offering a free software tool in the UK that gives the end user detailed information on how much energy their home is using.

The software receives information from utility smart meters and in home energy management devices and then displays this on the persons customised google home page.

Google announced a few hours ago the first PowerMeter partnership with energy supplier First Utility. This company has 30,000 customers for its Smart Tariff option with gives customers a smart electric meter.

Customers can also install a £69 device with a £2.99 monthly fee from Alertime which allows monitoring without a pre installed smart meter.

In these very cost aware times it seems like this might be a popular option for many people.
