Apple to fight Nokia in courts - will defend its case 'vigorously'

The Apple lawyers are preparing for a court battle against Nokia and their infringement claims.

Nokia have filed a complaint that Apple stole some of their GSM, UMTS and 802.11 wireless communication standards. Apple have said that it has a right to license these patents on "fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory terms and conditions" and that it will "defend the case vigorously."

Nokia are seeking close to $1 billion in damages and it looks like Apple are unwilling to even enter into a settlement discussion.

hmmm but then again a Patent is a Patent ... and many other companies pay Nokia royalties for using those Patents ....

so Apple will lose.

But you see, patents have to be clear and defined, and if apple was able to go outside the definition of the patent, then they do have a case. Also, Apple's legal team is more vicious then a tank of hungry pirahnas.

but the court of law will define who is correct in this ... so far Nokia has the upper hand since Apple hasn't gone in to details yet explaining why they have the right...

Well they only 'appear' to have the upper hand. As Apple haven't yet really detailed their defense it is hard to tell - I would assume that if they had no defense they would already be willing to offer a settlement as once it hits the courts, the costs increase by a substantial margin.

Always best to keep an open Mind Teme, especially when all the facts aren't presented.

True ... Yeah I've been a bit single minded in the past few days...

Licensing sounds like a good idea, lol. No doubt this will drag on for a few years.
