First Look at Apples 27inch screen Imac
Appleinsider has had a look at the new monster iMac and I have to say it really does look like a massively impressive bit of kit. I am hoping to get my hands on one of these very shortly.
For those who don't know the new top of the range Imac comes with a whopping 27inch screen with a staggering resolution of 2560x1440 which just falls short of the 2560x1600 native resolution of most 30 inch panels available today. The machines even support up to 16gb of ram which is extremely useful for designers and 3d modellers. Many people are thinking of buying one of these machines as the monitor can actually be used as a display for a PC with displayport output. The new screens are LED backlit which is unlike their high end 30 inch panel --- this means that they have no warm up times. Anyway I will let you guys check it out over here |

Re: First Look at Apples 27inch screen Imac
well unless you can repair the screen yourself it would have to be RMA'd. The screen doesnt seperate from the cpu and other components no - all 'all in one' computers are like this.

I wish I could afford one. Such a sweet kit!

Re: First Look at Apples 27inch screen Imac
As a apple technician, if you bring it to an apple service provider, they will just order the part (apple ships them overnight, standard.. and most apple stores have them in stock) So the turn around would not be bad, the display out can be used still with a backup monitor if you're worried about data.

that, and it's got firewire, so it'll have "Target Disk Mode" where it'll operate like an external hard-drive if you plug another computer in

Otherwise it will just show up as an unrecognizable drive.
