Twitterpeek launches - tweet on the move
Are you a Twitterer? then this new gadget by Peek will be right up your virtual alley. The device is called the Twitterpeek and it only has one function, to let you Tweet. You can't play games, you can't dial or use GPS, but you can talk crap to your hearts content and share it with likeminded friends.
Twitterpeek looks surprisingly like a smartphone and has a QWERTY keyboard and you can even buy it in black or blue - probably the same colours you will end up if spotted using it by a group of youths on a bus. To use it all you have to do is key in your Twittering credentials and you are set to go. The tool lets you tweet, reply and send direct message and even download followers. It is however limited to one account at a time. It even lets the end user view TwitPics by clicking on the view content option from the Twitterpeek menu. Battery life is estimated to be around the four day mark with 'average' user. When you buy the TwitterPeek you also get a service plan which means USA users can Twitter through Peek's own mobile network - which actually accesses mobile phone networks. If you pay $99 you get the device and six months of Peek service. After this time elapses you can pay $7.95 a month for network use. If you pay $199 however you get the device and a lifelong service. Unlimited tweeting for $199. The only issue we can see is that more versatile devices like the iphone and blackbery already have twitter apps available and they can obviously be used in a variety of other areas. Would people really want another device just to Twitter? Amazon.com are already selling the $99 and $199 and it will be interesting to see how the device sells. Allan Campbell: Heaven Media |
