Asus CEO Jerry Shen has told investors in Taipei that Asus will enter the smartbook market in early 2010.

Shen said the new unit will cost around NT$6000 (around $185/£150) and features an internal structure based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon platform. Shen then stated that the smartbook sector has massive sales potential and the new Asus Smartbook will set forth a market boom much like their original EEE did to kick the whole sector into motion. This is a complete 180 from Shen as he had stated in the past that Smartbooks had a limited market - clearly he has had a change of heart.

im thinking that this device is somthing like a gap bridge bewteen PDAs and netbooks? I am still a little confused.

HTC already did this with the shift (sort of) but it looks like a fun device i suppose.
