Nvidia GT240 to have a GDDR5 version

We spoke with an Nvidia partner this morning and got confirmation that they will be shipping GT240 units with GDDR5 on board. There will be plenty of GDDR3 versions offered initially but the plan is that higher spec versions will be released later.

We were also told that the GT240 will be shipping with many custom cooling solutions and it is sure to be a decent seller for Nvidia especially as the 9600 series before it proved a popular choice with Nvidia based gamers on a budget. It should be a nice upgrade for media centers with the 40nm tech as well.

The estimated shipping date is around November 18-20th but confirmation is not yet forthcoming.

What are the full specifications of this card? Since I read all kind of stuff. Some say 128-bit bus and others 256.

GDDR5 with a 256-bit bus has a huge bandwith. Maybe too much for this little card... :P

And what about the 6 pin PCI-e power connector? Does this card needs one? There are 9600GT's available without it and this card is made on 40 nm so lower power consumption.

well i can't 100% confirm it, but I hear 256bit and no it won't need a power connector. I can't guarantee they all won't, perhaps a modded one with massively enhanced clocks and an improved fan system might, but reference ones, no.

Also hear they will have DVI, HDMI and VGA too.

Not all of them. You have some 'green' versions. For example from Club3D which hasn't got one.

Those shops 'selling' the cards aren't the best shops here in the Netherlands.

Often they just want some publicity like now. So they have the product numbers and are speculating, like us, what the specs will be.

Good to know, have just been monitoring some stores, they seem one of the first.

Salland.eu is the shop where I always get my stuff. Good shop, but they also do it for the publicity. The page of the card is offline though...
