ATI Eyefinity HD 5870 2GB Eyefinity in the wild

The Radeon HD 5870 "six" or Eyefinity edition has been spotted over at pcpop.com. The card has TWICE the amount of memory (2gb) when compared with the standard model and has not five but SIX Mini-DisplayPort outputs.

The card abandons DVI and HDMI outputs for the plethora of Displayport outputs and the upper section of the backplate has been kept free for a heat exhaust system. As well as the mega memory count AMD have included both 8 pin and 6 pin PCI express power connectors and the standard 1GB version ships with two 6 pin connectors.

This will more than likely be a limited run edition as there will be a very small audience demanding six screen capabilities. Looks mega though doesn't it?

Aah, now the answer of the contest is given :P

Z, you have any info about the mini-DVI to DVI adapters? Do you need to buy 6 of them or are they already included?

I bet someone already has one *points at Allan*

that looks like an apple adapter actually...

The adapters go from 10-25$ depending on what kind you want.

Anyone else reads Eyefinity, infidelity?

That just looks amazing. This is a serious Nvidia stomper. While I'm sure Nvidia will find a way to hit back, the concept of a pair of these 6 port cards in Crossfire mode pushing 6 monitors (I know the second cards outputs are disabled) would be a simply amazing gameplay experience.

Don't forget the option without CF: then you have 12 outputs for 12 screens. That's not much money since a Matrox TripleHead2Go costs a lot.

nice..

so some computers will grant you 24 monitor display without requireing special adapters or matrox triple/dual head to go solutions.

That's insane. 12 monitors. Holy heck. 4 wide and 3 high. Wow. I can imagine it, kinda. I cannot easily imagine 24 monitors however. It blows my poor little brain cells right on out the ear drum...

??? Re: ATI Eyefinity HD 5870 2GB Eyefinity in the wild

Well, nice looking card.

specification say, that it can support theoritical max resolution of 8192x8192,

Will it really work on it?? Specially with gaming graphics,

may be normal desktop or idle state, but i don't think it can work that much resolution with Games like crysis or hawk. Not at least single card.

Specially when the similar version with 1 gb memory less can't play crysis with highest details at 2560 resolution. It has trouble with it. I don't think it will ever work at 8192.

This card must be for software, graphic designers, or ppl who require lots of desktop space, may be medical tools. But its definately no use for gamers,
Investing money all in so much is i think waste.

I could better do with single display at high resolution. with a single 5970 card that would be better.
