Nvidia Fermi looks to launch Jan 2010
We spoke with a few industry insiders about an hour ago and it looks like our previous report on Fermi shipping in January is becoming a reality. Nvidia wanted to make for a November/December launch but they are moving to new A3 silicon for the final retail products. We saw a sample but Nvidia were not letting anyone get their hands on them.
There were initial rumours of some sites getting benchmarks live before Christmas but some of you will remember the mess they made last time with the GTX 295 samples with substandard reviews up December 18th 2008 while the official indepth full launch was January 8th 2009. The likelihood of this happening again is very low - Nvidia aim to launch with huge availability, but whether this happens or not is anyones guess right now. The ATI card shortage right now is really damaging their sales figures as Nvidia have not been in a position to reply with competing DX11 parts. Allan Campbell: Heaven Media |
