Re: Windows 7 sales break records

Well, when you put a kick ass product on the market, people are going to buy it.

To be fair though, Vista REALLY wasn't/isn't that bad. It would have gotten a lot better reception is the likes of nVidia, Creative, etc. would have had decent drivers for it when it was launched.

OH, and let's not forget the "experts", that even to this day, dump on Vista in hopes that it gives them some sort of epenis enhancement.

True, I used vista from day one up until October 2009 and I had 1 issue with it : Logitech webcam driver support ... Logitech's answer to me was "you need to buy one of our webcams that has the "VISTA READY" sticker on it"

rrrrright

nvidia drivers sucked I heard but I use ATI only
creative drivers sucked as well... I just sold my Audigy 2 instead ... onboard sound cards are plenty enough

The orginal 1998/1999 Quickcam Express still works in vista/win7 x64

Re: Windows 7 sales break records

I loved Windows Vista. Used it since early beta through to May 2009.
I had a few issues with Vista, primarily while it was in beta phase (as would be expected), but a month or so after it was released it was flawless. Didn't have any hardware limitations like other people, as I purchased a solid performing laptop in anticipation for it.

However, I started using Windows7 close to the RC build and wow, I was in love. Changed a lot of features of it to behave more like Vista, as I'm resistive to change (lol, I'm sure the UI will grow on me!), but overall the look and feel of it is very crisp.

The startup times are incredible with Windows7, I never hibernate the laptop anymore rather sticking to fresh starts... it shuts down after I close the lid, so I'm not 100% sure how long the shutdown takes (25s?), but it starts up in around 20-25s.

And the UAC comes up SO rarely now it's fantastic.

Great job, Microsoft. I was happy with Vista, but with Windows7 I haven't been more happy with my OS.

Also, it helps that Microsoft threw in the OS for 29.99 to students... that was sweet too. lol
