Actually, I don't need 3D. But they all should provide both 2D and 3D as well as both integrated and separate. That's the right strategy from the consumer's point of view.

In my honest opinion 3D is simply another passing fad, It's an age old technology that really doesn't add anything special... Except the sensation of vertigo for me, I can't sit through a 3D Movie without wanting to puke up now

most people don't need 3D... however most people DO need support for it at the very least and good support not "lets throw it in there but not make it really all that useful" support.

While i'm VERY impressed with the 3D capabilities of intel's intergrated 3D capabilities of the intel i3... i still can't say anything good about their other video chips.

If the new Atom netbook's "GMA3150" had been based on the "X" series with full DX9 hardware, instead of the hardware pixel shader / software vertex and TnL, then I'd have got one.

You're never going to get great performance from an onboard, particularly a netbook onboard, but it's nice to have full hardware capability - a lot of things would run on an ancient Geforce2 because it DOES have hardware TnL, but not on a modern Intel onboard.

So...? Intel failed the 3D business and are now saying "Who needs it anyway??" just like a little todler.

I love Intel, but it is obvious to everyone that not even the strongest Intel GPU can stand up even against the G210, so I'm sorry if Intel see this as a big failure that they really need to respond to like a little child, but this is NOT you turf!

Leave the 3D business to the companies who really know how to make a GPU, you just keep on making the best CPUs in the world

Actually, trying to take over the 3D business is just beeing greedy...

I don't think the context is Larrabee as much as the Atom platform. And it's true that most people don't need powerful 3D or CPU, as the increasing numbers of netbooks sold attests to. Still, the people who do want them are willing to pay more money, and there are enough of them that it's worth keeping that market alive.

I agree guys that was a silly thing for him to say, I know a few multimedia programmers who use kick ass systems but they don't game, I for one have a 3850 but I dont game much either my bro has a 2600xt 1gb ddr3, he doesnt game AND we are in poh ass Africa, I'm thinking of getting a 5770 next so really dude what are you talking about?

Yeah, like that's something new for nVidia.

They said the nobody wanted/needed DX9 back in the FX5200 days when they couldn't get it to work.

Then they did the same with DX10.1 and DX11.

Bottom line with them is if THEY don't have it or can't get it to work, they will claim that 'nobody wants/needs it".

What a bunch of maroons.
