Driverheaven - Driver Cleaner 0.6.1

Ok guys,

Here is the new version from Driver Cleaner. I decided to make it final after people tested it and told me it worked great. I want to thank everyone who tested it. I started with the 6 number, because i put some big improvements in it. To read about the improvements read the help file.

IMPORTANT: uninstall the older version first before you install this version.

It is for nVidia and ATI drivers. It will remove anything that is left by the drivers after uninstall.

You can download the new version here.

Cool!

This is a great little program, well made and easy to use. I recommend you use this before installing new display drivers, well worth the download.

I registered just to get this software, but after searching a good portion of the site, this is the ONLY link I've found that allows me to download the program.

Pardon me for being a bit abrupt, but I'm having a LOT of problems trying to get the cat3 drivers installed, and I passed being patient about little annoyances a LONG time ago.

Hello, it's me again.

I downloaded DC, and when I click setup I get this error message:

"MSVCRT.DLL is not compatible with Win32s"

What program is being used for installing this? Installshield? WISE? Microsoft Installer?

The VB Bootstrap installer to be more precise (doesn't anyone program in C++ anymore?)

Got any clues as to how to fix my problem?

I'm running Win2K/SP3 and have seen this error on four separate occasions. Since it's impossible to alter MSVCRT.DLL on Win2K, it's got to be an issue with the installers.

are you a C++ programmer yourself?

my suggestion would be to wait until Spike comes onto the board or PM your specific problem to him so he can answer.

Yes, I am a C++ programmer with over 2 million lines of code under my belt, and I've been doing it for over 10 years (been in the industry for over 20 years). I am of the personal opinion that DLL's are evil by nature, and I have never written a program that utilizes the dynamic version of MSVCRT or MFC (simply because of problems just like this).

VB, .NET, C#, and all the latest crap from Microsoft isn't making life easier on *anyone*.

I guess that's why I'm so damned frustrated with this problem. I try to keep my system as vanilla as possible, but Microsoft isn't interested in vanilla featureless PC's. they want all the security and privacy to be a one-way street right to themselves, and anyone that disagrees can spit and sputter all they want, but since MS is in charge, it's jus a waste of breath and spit.

You can change dll files in windows. You need to start in safemode and than you can replce it. If you need another version than mail me at 1 of the mail adresses and i send you my version.

What is the date/time/size of the one you have? I have a crapload of different ones to choose from (only the one in SYSTEM32 is in my path), so I might already have it.

driver cleaner and dll's

you see, this is why I use linux almost exclusively at home, I beta tested xp for MS and I hardly use it...for example, when I use asr backup, which is a great idea...I have to reboot before and after, otherwise the system gets a case of the "slows" as I call it and everything takes a HUGE amount of time to open or close, usually I have to press the reboot button and start over...takes ages to boot up (alot of that is virusscan) and shut down...it's a crappy os and they should have listened to me and OS/2'ed win9x (replace all the 16 bit code with 32 bit)...home users do NOT need to dick with user rights and such...I can teach anyone who uses windoze to be productive with the kde desktop within a few hours....NT was not meant to be an eye-candy home system...sheesh...and nvidia makes very good drivers for linux, though I will be going to ati as the geforce fx is a rather sick joke.

Weebie linux is great yes, very stable, nice overhead, I think also for servers its the best (DH runs on it), but dont you think for the majority of people the support for gaming etc just isnt on par with Windows as yet? I mean ive had debates with alot of people on forums about this, and dont get me wrong, im hoping Linux gets stronger and stronger, and that it will have the support that windows has atm. I just cant see it being a threat in the near future. (depends what you do at home of course).

weeble i don't know how your post gives me feedback, because it doesn't. This thread is not to complain about an operating system. People are always says MS sucks and ok maybe that is true, but i can't play all the new games that come out on linux, because there is no support. Why don't people just stop complaining, MS is just to big to beat and linux can't take that fight.
