Stuffed 2 PCs with Driver Cleaner

Hi. I recently used driver cleaner to:

1. remove Nvidia drivers when replacing old Leadtek Geforce card in my wife's PC with a Radeon 9600XT. Result = PC wouldn't boot, even in safe mode (endless reboot loop). Wife formated hard drive and reinstalled software and I'm in the doghouse.

2. remove creative drivers in my PC, when replacing Audigy 1 with Audigy 2ZS. Result = WMP10 won't play anything at all (unexpected error message), but Media Source works and sound mostly ok, but no sound at all in some games (eg Gary Grigsby's world at war) and no sound in opening splash screens in some others (eg the Jo Wood splash screen in Arx Fatalis). Heaven knows what else is wrong that I've not realised yet.

Followed the readme carefully in both cases.

I assume in both cases DCP removed something vital that should have stayed. Any ideas show to fix 2 above without a reformat?

Thanks in anticipation.

I did this:

Thanks KBuffman1

the fix
was to go to the "tools" menu of Media Player 10 and then to
"Options" and then on the tab folder select "Devices". From there select the
"speakers" on the list which will open up another box . In the window "audo
device to use:" select a different settting on the list (if there is one).
Try not to use the "default" speaker device. This worked for me and "viola,
everything worked again!

And fixed the WMP10 problem, but not the sound in game problem.

"Because most of you said that with those registry keys some things got fixed, i exported my key and there are a lot more things in there so try it. http://www.drivercleaner.net/download/PossibleFix.zip there are 2 reg files Fix1 is the key that got deleted by the filter, but it is possible that you need to run Fix2 also."

Must stop being lazy and use the search button before asking.

markpoll can you tell me exactly whant filters you used for the removal of the old Leadtek Geforce drivers?

Also the bug with the audio is fixed in 1.4 and indeed that zip files fixes it.

ThanksSpike.

It was a week or more ago, but I think I used a number of filters = Anything that referred to NVidia or ATI.
