Unable to install Catalyst7.5

Hello,

Im often using your cool application for installing Catalysts into notebooks. But, on 31st March ATI released newest version of drivers, 7.5. But when I press "go mobile" after installation error, it doesnt work! Says me some error. Everything was fine until version 7.5. Please, try it and tell me, where is problem. Thanks for your answer guys!

Mine notebook: Asus F3Ja, with Radeon X1600 Mobility.

Thanks,
Martin Kucharik (Czech Republic)

What i know is that since a few drivers back ati changed some names in the inf file and the ModTool V4 can't work with that.

The new Mobility Modder.NET from me should be out soon and that has support for XP and can handle the new names so then it should work.

Oh and also... The reason I'm trying to do this is because I play the online game Second Life, hard to admit but it crashes constantly on me.
1st they said it was vista then ATI came out with 7.5 and it helped most vista users but thats when I run into problems, I have Intel and thats a compatibility issue.

Hi,

your notebook has a Intel videocard so you can't install the ati drivers. You would need to look at the intel site or the site from acer to see if there are noe drivers for your intel card.

Same problem here

Hi!

First of all, my compliments for making this tool.

My laptop: Toshiba Satellite M60, ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600SE Windows XP

I have been using your modtoolV4 with Catalyst 7.3 and Catalyst 7.4 and always worked great, but with Catalyst 7.5 it doesn't seem to work.

If i try with modtoolv4:

Aparrently patches well, and when "Do you want to install the drivers no" is asked, i click yes and this is what happens:

Unhandled exception error:

If I use the new MobilityDotNet
no error is prompted but the "patching" doesnt finish, it hangs in "Modifying Driver.dat finished) (actually doesnt really hang because i can close the window, but it doesn't go on).

I apologize for my english and hope my post is understandable, thanks in advance,

Pablo

Can you check if there are any log files in the mobility log folder?

After the dat file it should start doing the msi files.

Did you select the main driver folder?

There are no files in the mobility log folder, i think the reason is because de program "hangs" after patching the Driver.dat file.

Yes, I selected the main driver folder, in fact, i did the same steps with Catalyst 7.4 and 7.5, and for 7.4 it worked great but with 7.5 didnīt.

Do you know if there are more people with the same problem? It seems that ATI has changed something in this new version... anyway, thanks for your reply.

Did you also checked the progressbar? It is possible that the text does not get updated, but that it continues with modding the msi files and that can take some time. But the progressbar should continue.

I tried to mod 7.4 and 7.5 drivers and it finishes both ok. Have to look into this. If you have any more info that you think could help please tell.

I also thought about that. The progress bar stops at ""Modifying Driver.dat finished", I waited for serveral minutes but nothing happened so I'm almost sure that it doesn't start with the msi files.

The only thing i can think about, It's that I have CCC installed. Maybe I should try a clean install and see what happens. I'll keep you informed.

EDIT: Ok, I tried installing 7.5 from a clean install but still the same error. Furthermore, I tried installing 7.4 (also clean install) with MobilityDotNet and the the patching was succesful, but then, when i launched setup.exe from de driver folder, it prompted the same old error "your hardware is not compatible". Then I used the old version ModtoolV4 and the 7.4 installation was perfect.

EDIT2: I did more research. I downloaded the drivers with CCC+WDM instead of the only display drivers, and MobilityDotNet finished!! but when it finished nothing happened, it shows "Driver modification finished" but no option to install the drivers so I closed the window and ran manually SETUP.EXE from C:\ATI\SUPPORT\7-5_xp_dd_ccc_wdm_46743 and again the same old error "setup did not find a driver compatible with your current software or operating system..". Any ideas?

Pablo
