Driverheaven Mobility Mod Tool

I am proud to present Driverheaven's newest baby called: DH Mobility Mod Tool

This tool modifies a catalyst set to support mobility chipsets.

check it out overhere : On my modding section

Right now the tool makes a catalyst set available for the following cards:

Mobility Fire GL 9000
Mobility Radeon 9000
Radeon Mobility
Radeon Mobility 7500
Radeon Mobility 7500 GL
IGP 340M
IGP 320M

You can use it with every version of catalyst available and with future versions, so for all mobility owners it's a "must have"

Thank You Patje

Thanks for the great Tool Patje (and the rest who worked on this great tool),

Going to download it right now and keep it
in a very safe place

I have a question tho:

Does this tool also change some other parameters in the .INF file(s) (Optimalisation?)
or does it just change the settings needed to get the Catalyst drivers working
on the laptops/notebooks?

Skillz,

Good question, For the moment the modder only mods the drivers to make them installable.
Maybe future relases will contain optimalizations?? who knowes??

Hi,

I found this board on my 'quest for the holy ATI mobility driver'. I have a Compaq 1525EA with a ATI IGP 340M. I tried to install both the premodded driverset and the original 3.2 Catalyst drivers, altered using the dhmodtool. Unfortunately, I keep getting the 'inf error - video driver not found' error when executing Setup.exe.

I have done this using both the standard vga drivers and the winxp wdm drivers.

Thnx in advance,

ReV

Rev,

Nice to have you on the forum. Your quest will soon come to an end ...

I'm looking into a way to make the igp installable.
Could you try to install it as a RADEON VE? you can choose this by manually updating drives trough the device manager.
Select search for drivers....
select specify a location...
browse for the modded inf file (for win2k = C2_xxx.inf for XP = CX_xxx.inf) and then you'll get a list of all the ati cards.
Choose the radeon VE card and install it.
Or try to select the IGP 340 and install it.

PS: if the radeon VE is not in the list, try using an original set

Hope it helps

Patje

Wow, it worked

I deleted C2_xxx.inf just to make sure there weren't any conflicts. Then i tried to do a manual install. I didn't have the choice between IGP 340M or Radeon VE, WinXP automatically chose the first one. But it works, that's all i need

Thnx a lot for the prog and the help, patje

exclamation

really?

If i try your mobility mod tool I got an error message after the first dialog "modded the install.ini".

I used another Mobility Mod Tool and it seems to work, but after the installation and the restart I had a bluescreen.
I restartet my nootbook and I had the same bluescreen...
The 3.2 works fine...but not the 3.4

Hi, patje:

I'm going to load the 3.4's on my Sager tomorrow and I have 2 questions:

1. Ok to use the Mobility Mod Tool with 3.4's?

2. To uninstall the old drivers, do I use the same routine> uninstall thru contol panel, follow the instructions in DriverCleaner, etc?

Thanks for your help.

I'll tell you guys what i did.

I deleted the C:\Ati folder.
Downloaded the 3.4
extracted them and launched setup until it asks to install the driver.
I started the DH Mobili modder
I select the new ATI folder (for me its C:\ati)
start modding, went fine for me.
launched the setup again form c:\ati\...

reboot

Install control panel

reboot.

So did not uninstall older drivers, i never do that. I just overinstall.

foxdav, if you get the blue screen, you start the computer in save mode and try the above procedure in the exact same order.

Let me know if you find any problems

good luck

Sad

First I started in SaveMode.
the I used your Mobility Mod Tool and after the first message it puts an error message "Laufzeitfehler 70: Zugriff verweigert" (I'm german).
I used the other tool....it worked....
Then I started setup.exe and the error "DirectX 8 not installed" was on the screen.

I have Direct X 9.0a

I ignored this message and then the message "Error, no videocard driver found" was shown.
I pusched [OK] and the installation aborted....

Foxdav,

Try updating the driver trough the device manager.
select video card, properties, driver, update driver.
specify the driver by browsing to the C2_xxx.inf or CX_xxx.inf

Sad

Then it will install "MOBILITY READON 8500" but I have the M9.

The driverinstallation will copy ati2mtag.sys from "d:/driver/vga/r6xp/atidriver"...
if I select C:/ati/..... it works but then other files are needed and these files are not on my system. (example: atipdsxx.dll,.....)

It's crazy...

That is indeed crazy.

sound like the mobility modder didn't complete its thing.
Maybe just maybe you should try to get Microsoft visual basic runtime dll.s which you can get here:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;235420

i think thats what causing the mobility modder not to work.

if that doesn't work, send me an email to pvbeek@ncsbe.jnj.com today and i will send you the correct moddified files.

q20 is on a distinguished road

hey there patje

thanks for putting the time and effort into creating such a tool. unfortunately it doesn't work for me on my acer tm800 (mobility 9000), xp pro.

the tool appears to mod the file just fine, and the ati installer does its thing quite happily. unfortunately, when i reboot and get to my logon screen i am presented with a miriad of pretty serious $mft corruption messages and am unable to proceed. i reckon if i pressed 'ok' a hundrud thowsund times i'd stillnot reach my desktop, and have a beard.

i've tried the other mod tool, but that's hopeless too. yours seems to be doing the right thing, but obviously it's not happy on my system. i've tried quiter a few times now, but no joy (tried from the device manager too).

wtf?

any ideas... oh, i'm using a systernals.com pagedefrag tool that runs before logon (like chkdsk). just thought of it now... maybe that's causing problem (shouldn't think so), but i'm so bored of this problem now that i'm not too interested in trying again... it's quite nerve racking getting the pc nack up and running... sometimes it takes a couple of minutes, sometimes half an hour (seemingly random usefulness of 'last good configuration' and 'system restore'.

any help would be great.

thanks chap

to Q2O, you got yourself a strange problem my friend.
Seems like the registry gets corrupted after installing the driver.
How? i don't know
what can we do about it? dunno either.
here is what we will do: send me the install.ini, C2_someting.INF and the CX_something.INF to pvbeek@ncsbe.jnj.com i will check the files to see if they are modded correctly.
the files can be found in the C:\ati\somewhere folder.

to noyz: i'm sorry to say that i cannot support the win9x os. I reccomend (actually its your only choice)
to visit the support site from your laptop manufacturor.

Smoothbrain is on a distinguished road

same problem (sort of)

Hi,

I have a dell laptop with a Radeon Mobility 9000. I used the modder to install the new Omega drivers. The modder seemed to fix the necessary files, and it seemed that the drivers got installed. After re-boot, if I run dxdiag, it shows the driver as "vga.dll" and the control panel says that my card has a bad driver. I tried to manually install the driver from the device manager, but it didn't work. I have to confess I would rather stay with the old driver rather than re-install windows on my laptop, so if there's a work-around for this I would appreciate the help.
