ATI Mobility Radeon Driver?

Hi. I have a Gateway laptop with Mobility Radeon X600, running XP. I am trying to download and use the Mobility modding tool, but am running into trouble. First, the only update for the driver I can find is two years old from the Gateway site (the ATI site won't allow me to download anything more recent, saying I have to go through the manufacturer). So, I followed the next step, downloading and extracting the driver into ATI/SUPPORT. But the next step stops me. I run Mobility Modder, browse to the support folder...but see no driver to modify. Any thoughts?

You have to get the ATI desktop driver so not the mobility driver and then run it and then cancel the install and then in the mobility modder select the ATI\Support and then the main folder from the driver.

I'm sorry, but I really don't understand that sentence. Can you explain a little clearer? Thanks.

I have been using Modder since cc 7.2. I have run into trouble when ATI released 7.7. Modder says that check 2 failed and it will run but not convert the driver. What does "failed check 2" mean and how can I correct it. Thanks.

Check 2 means that MSXML 4.0 is not installed correctly. Check if the file msxml4.dll exists in the \windows\systems32. If so then run "regsvr32 msxml4.dll" without the " to reregister it and the failed should be gone. You can do that command in start > run

If the file is not there then download msxml 4.0 from the microsoft site and install that.

Spike - thanks so much - it turns out that using regsvr32 did the trick. Now I am running ATI Cat 7.7 on my laptop, thanks to you.
