If you have popweplay problems, please post what notebook you have what OS and what mobility chipset. I am trying to find out if it is all or just some. Until now i seen x1400, x1600 and x1700.

Well, my configuration is (POWERPLAY NOT WORKING, as previously reported):
- ASUS A6JA (CoreDuo T2300)
- Mobility Radeon X1600
- Vista 32 SP1 Businness (Italian)

I can also report the configuration of my two flatmates that have no problem at all with same drivers installed (POWERPLAY SEEMS OK in controlcenter):
- ASUS G2PC (Core2Duo T7200)
- Mobility Radeon X1700
- Vista 32 SP1 Businness (Italian)

and

- ACER 1682 (Centrino 1,66)
- Mobility Radeon 9700
- Vista 32 SP1 Businness (Italian)

Catalyst 8.5 installed with Mobility Modder (on default settings)

Maybe i found a solution for X1700 user with 8.5 drivers. I have moded 8.5 drivers, and when installing (using device manager) I chosen X2500 instead of X1700. And voila its working (i have not tested it yet but it seems to work).

hey guys,
I'm using modder (not sure which version) with a cat 8.1 (Gateway C140, Vista 32, ATI HD2300)
and want to upgrade to final modder 1.0 with cat 8.5.

Do I need to uninstall Cat 8.1 and/or Modder before installing?
and how should I do that? (control panel, use a program, etc...)

And about the Powerplay issue,
Does it just run full power all the time?
(if so, then this is not much of an issue for me, as I'm mostly plugged in anyways)

You can delete the old modder and uset he newest version 1.0. For the driver it is best to uninstall the old version through the control panel and then install the new version.

Phate_cz, so after installing the x2500 through the device manager the powerplay worked?

Yes, it works (clocks checked in ATI Tray Tools 1.4.7.1193 Beta), it will look like you installed X1700 but it takes driver settings from X2500 (same gpu).

Edit - the X1700 will take X2500's setting? I'm going to give this a try. Hope it works on my X1700 to conserve battery.

Yes, try it, it worked in my case and the performace is not affected (tested - Race Driver GRID)

Hi again,

I got XP x64, modified Catalyst 8.5 (Mobility HD 2600 512MB GDDR2)- but no OpenGL. When I try to run Call Of Duty: United Offensive, I got this error:

and console window appears:

Once I've also tried my friend's OGL benchmark, but my card was not recognized by his programme, due to missing OGL.

Could you possibly do something with that? Thanks in advance

nManJofo that is a mistake in the modder. For a temp fix check this thread http://www.hardwareheaven.com/driverhe...h-modtool.html then it will work. In the next update i will add the right atiorcaWS_OpenGLSoftwareSettings to the mod files and then it will be good. So for now use that fix from that thread.

UltraMax, i have to look into it and see if i can find older driver for it. Then i can look if it is possible, but i already did some quick search and i think it is not possible to have it work on vista with vista drivers. The only thing would be to install xp drivers for it.

Too bad

I can say, that I have installed XP drivers - but they do not work on Vista

I would use XP instead of Vista, but my notebook stucks on using any wifi PCMCIA card when using Windows XP...
ANyway - when can I wait for information from you about this old driver?

What you can try is modify the latest vista driver and then search for the inf files that starts with CL and then open that with notepad and add this line by the other mobility cards

"ATI MOBILITY IGP 340M/345M" = ati2mtag_RS200M, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4337

Then save the file and install the driver and see if it works.

You can always try what Phate_cz did, because they uset eh same settings. Also the upcomming version i am not sure if it is fixed, because i can't test it. I changed a lot in the mod files. If you want you can send an email to info at drivercleaner dot net and i can send you the modified files and you can try if that works.

1. What is the latest driver? Driver of what? My video card? There is no vista drivers at all

Follow the steps of my Mobillity Modder and then after modding the driver then edit that inf file and add that line from my previous post.

The latest driver os the Catalyst 8.5. Make sure you use AMD GAME Drivers & Tools

just modified the new 8.6, all good apart from the powerplay tab, its blank: no battery%, nothing in drop down boxs. also the check boxs dont save there state. Powerplay does seem to be working though.

It did work with the 8.6 betas, but there is a few new boxes on this tab now that wern't in the beta.

2Dave: dont use that stupid ati memory hog called CCC, use ati tray tools and change powerplay settings thru options integrated in vista (right click on battery... bla bla).

Notebook: Asus F8Sa
OS: Vista Home Premium SP1
Video Card: HD2600 w/512MB DDR2

I installed the 8.6 and powerplay disappeared. Also, a random "Unknown hardware" installation wizard pops up since i installed 8.6. And, i can't install any version of CCC. Tried 8.4,8.5 and 8.6.

I think something changed in the Install Manager, because when i upgraded it to 8.6's CCC wont install. And i haven't had a problem with OpenGL... yet.

That option dissapeared from the profiles when i installed 8.6.

Something is not allowing installation of necessary stuff for powerplay. If there is a way to log what each driver installation changes, i could probably install different modded versions to see what causes powerplay to not work.

Unfotunately it didn't help

It did install the Radeon IGP 340 driver - but it does not work
(error 12, windows could not allocated resources on this device)
