Cant install ati 8.12 to my laptop...

Guys i am using the Mobility modder (the latest)..

i extracted the 8.12 ati driver...
i modded with mobility modder..
Runned the setup.exe

But the result is,

"setup didnt find a driver compatible your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit"

How can i get rid of that and intall my newest driver...
i am using Hp Comapq nc 8430 laptop and ati x1600

Re: Cant install ati 8.9 to my laptop...

Hi there!

An d sorry for the late response. The most likely reason that the setup can't find the compatible hardware could be that the modder lacks information of the driver ID that your mobility card has.

Yeah there is. Run Dxdiag and click the save all information button and save the text file. From the file find the Display Devices part and from there post the Device Key in here.

Re: Cant install ati 8.9 to my laptop...

Hmm... that should already be in the list of added device ID's... I'll have to ask Spike, the creator of the tool what's the deal in here.

By the way since you got x1xxx series of mobility radeon I recomend using older drivers since there are no improvements for the x1xxx series cards in the 8.xx version of catalyst drivers.

There was. in 8.4 or 8.5 they added GPU customizable scaling of lower resolutions to higher resoultion monitors (over digital links, read everything but external VGA D-Sub 15). Not ideal, but evolving.

So, gamers have less reasons to be jealous to GeForce owners.

Re: Cant install ati 8.9 to my laptop...

Razzorback, i checked and that id is in the list, so i have no idea why it doesn't install. Could you try installing the driver through the device manager and see if that works?

BTW what Windows is ?

For XP aren't tere still non-publick link to latest mobilized catalyst from AMD themselves ?
For Vista - read my experience in http://www.hardwareheaven.com/driverhe...i-tell-ya.html
Also, since you use 1x00, be warned with http://www.hardwareheaven.com/driverhe...00-modder.html

Re: Cant install ati 8.9 to my laptop...

i have the same problem ,tried many different driver versions and i get the same error on them all under vista , i am running a dual boot with xp on my laptop now and it uses the omega drivers with great effect ,used them for several years since Toshiba has only ever had one driver available from 2004 for my laptop which i got Jan. 2006. here is the info from DxDiag. hope it gives you some clues as i'd love to have my 1440 res under vista too as it is a wide screen ,currently i am using the xp driver under vistaas well if i want 1440 x 900 but that mean no Aero etc. as the driver isnt wddm certified. thanks for your help and time .

Spike,
I tried installing with device manager but the result is same.. I cant install the new 8.12 driver too.

When i was using omegadrives there were no problems installing the ati drivers. but omegadrivers is not publishing anymore...

So we hope that you/your team find a way to rescue us from these old crappy drives...

Razor, as someone mentioned earlier, it would be helpful to know which operating system you are using, because that laptop came with either Vista or XP installed.

Out of curiosity, did it originally come with Vista? Are now running XP on it, and this is the problem you are running into with the display driver?
