Catalyst 8.11 complains "inf file not found'
i tried to install the Catalyst 8.11 drivers, but the installation procedure complained that it couldn't find the inf file.
I used the standard procedure: deinstall 8.10 drivers reboot use Driver Cleaner with ATI setting to cleanup all remaining junk run phase 1 of the Catalyst installer use the mod tool to modify the installation files restart/continue the Catalyst installer for phase 2. I did find a good looking inf file in the ATI directory branch. Has anyone else had this problem? |

I'm having the same exact problem. Did you ever find out how to fix it?

Instead of starting a new thread I've decided to post it here since it's almost the same problem.
Problem(s) I'm facing: Blue Screen after installing ATI 8.11 Specs Dell Studio 1535 CPU: Intel C2D T9300 Chipset: Intel 965 RAM: 4GB 667Mhz DDR2 Graphics: Radeon HD 3450 OS: Vista ULT SP1 32bit HDD: 320GB Previously I've been able to mod all the other catalyst no problem. But when 8.11 arrived it gave me a invalid handling problem. Manually trying to install it doesn't do me any good either. When I mean manually I mean after modding it, and directing windows toward the CL_(numbers).inf. I've been downloading my drivers from ATI website. I previously thought that it was because of a corrupted download but it wasn't because I downloaded the file twice on a different day, without using download managers. I was thinking since 8.12 will be released on the 10th I'll wait a while more and see if it happens on 8.12 as well. If the problem happens as well. I might have to come to a conclusion that something has changed and that MM, needs to be updated to reflect that change?? Could someone give me some pointers here? If any more information is needed I'm glad to be able to provide it. Last edited by thomasyke; Dec 9, 2008 at 09:57 PM. |
