Big trouble with MY GPU!! Please could you help??
Well first , i would like to thank all the team for his work...an incredible work!! You re saving a lot of laptop's users lol^^ Thanks and continue your great job about those drivers^^
After this thanks i would like to ask you about the problem i found!! At first here is my Laptop spec : Satellite A300-1IO Intel® Core™2 Duo P8400, chipset Intel® PM45 Express et Intel® WiFi Link 5100 Graphics adapter fabricant : ATI modèle : ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3470 utilisant la technologie HyperMemory™ mémoire vidéo : 256 MB dedicated VRAM (up to 2,046 MB total available graphics memory using HyperMemory™ technology with 4 GB system memory) type mémoire : GDDR2 (500 MHz) Video RAM (resp. Video RAM and system memory combined) bus connecté : 16x PCI Express here is the principals spec!!! The problem: I have installed corectly the new ATi drvier 8.11 with your modder, but after all , my Catalyst center tell me that i have (and my control panel also) an ATI HD 3450 Raedon mobility !!!!! I don t understand (before the new Ati instalation i havent got this card lol) !! can i solve this problem and how? Can this harm anything ? Is that going to degrade the laptop performance ( i m a gamer so...)!! Well be kind to give me your advice , i m completly lost^^ Thanks to you.. Lestat00è |

In your Catalyst Control Center - what are the reported clock frequecies for the GPU and Memory?
The only thing I can think of that would degrade your performance would be the reduced clock speeds of a 3450 compared to a 3470. I don't think any harm is being done at all - and congrats on getting through the Mod/Install process!

Re : Big trouble with MY GPU!! Please could you help??
Well it s really strange to pass to an Ati mobility 3470 to 3450...but..erf
about the clock core i have 680 Mhz and for the memory Clock 500 MHz i really dont know the significatio about these... is that a frquency similar at my "real" 3470 ?? or is that a degrade... i really dont know !! I would really appreciate your help about this problem...would be good to solve this ^^ Thanks to all |

Re: Big trouble with MY GPU!! Please could you help??
The core frequency of 680Mhz is the speed of a 3470. The core frequency of a 3450 is just 500Mhz.
Since the specifications for both chips is the same, the only difference is clock speed, and your given speed matches the 3470. The name shown by Windows after Modding the driver doesn't really matter - as long as your games and applications work ok. A good diagnostic for checking your Mobility Radeon specifications while your computer is running is GPU-Z available at the GPU-Z homepage Here. There is a screenshot of the program there too. It's small, and you don't have to "install" the software - just download, then run the downloaded file. Just be aware, the utility above might report low core clock frequencies unless you are running a 3D application or game. Windows only cranks up the video processor's core clock to maximum when needed by an application or game in order to save power. You could try running a 3D game in a window, then launching the utility. Looks like you're in good shape already though...

Thanx for your help , i will try what you told me to do^^ I will test GpuZ during game...we will see!
Finally if you tell me that there is no problem and no incidence to "transform" my GPU 3470 to a 3450..i will keep it up^^ And maybe i ll try to overclock it a little ^^ ta have interresting performance...why Ati didint have made HD4000 Gpu mobility yet..dam Thanx to you after all^^ |

Re: Big trouble with MY GPU!! Please could you help??
Hi,
the problem is that the 3450 and 3470 have the same device id. So it is only the text that it displays, so that is no problem. They use the same device settings. in my next release i will name it 3450/3470 so that would solve the naming problem.
