hd 2700 changed to...

Good day. I Have vista 32b and HD 2700 video in my nootebook. So I trying install new drivers but after reboot my hd 2700 changes to hd 2600 xt. I trying to set drivers manualy but installed only old driver (1 year old). It was 1st question. And tell me please how to increase memory of my card with your modder? I increased with modder but 256 mb is still here. This video can be more up to 768 mb. Thank you.

Hello new user.

Most likely your system is reading the card as a 2600xt because you have 2600xt drivers loaded. The system still works because ur using the same cores and architecture used in the HD2000 series.

Uninstall your drivers and reinstall drivers for your new card or go to the site for your card and get them there. If its an issue that some old drivers are still hanging around use the latest version of driver cleaner. which is stable and reliable.

The card memory usage depends on the game/program and the catalyst drivers controlling the memory usage. I don't think you can manually set those. you can however allocate more ram through your bios by increasing your graphics aperture size.This will depend on how much ram you have. You can also increase your virtual memory size(pagefile). This means that more virtual memory will be available for your programs/games.

the HD2700 and the HD2600XT use the same device id and settings, so it is only the name that says 2600, but the card still runs as the 2700 so no need to worry about that.

The memory you see is the set amout there is. The 768 is what can be and that will change on demand by the system so there is no way on really setting that manual.

TY guyz for help. But 1more Q about size of my video memory. I started GTA IV and it runned with the lowest settings

(. But I have reccommended computer. Problem in size of video memory he is only 256 in GTA. Dunno what to do.

You can change that quite easy. After using the modtool, edit the file CL_69995.inf in the LH_INF directory (This is for the 8.10 drivers). Search for 2700, and you will find the entry for your card. The line just above this line will show the 2600 XT entry. Put a semi-column ( ; ) in front of the 2600 XT line, and close the file. Now install the drivers, and Windows will show you have a 2700 card.

Keep in mind that you can not use the 8.11 and 8.12 drivers (yet). ATI has done someting to the installation procedure that prevents the modded drivers to install.
