Lost my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650

Hey All --

Thanks for taking the time to look at my problem. I attempted to mod the graphics driver on my new Lenovo T500 and have done something wrong. I believe that I followed the instructions, but... After completing the installation process with no apparent error messages, I rebooted my computer and got a message saying that an incompatible graphics driver had been shut down. Now when I look at the device manager, it only shows the integrated display adapter; the ATI driver no longer shows up.

I tried to install the non-modded Catalyst 8.12 driver over the other driver, but that had no effect.

I am running Vista Business 64-bit.

Any help you can offer, will be appreciated.
Thanks,
rb

Hello,

did you try to go to device manager, then choose "update driver" or whatever then choose my own driver and select the old driver from the list?

Re: Lost my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650

I've got this exact same problem. Tried updating the driver for my 3650 card and now it's disappeared from the device manager only showing the basic 3200.

I'm on an acer aspire 8530G laptop (Vista home premium 32 bit).

I've spent ages trying different solutions but they all fail. Anyone ever solve this?

Same problem here on a T500 with an HD3650. The stock drivers stink too .

Try this:

Unpack latest driver file & mod with MM 1.2.1.0.
Add your full device/vendor id refs to HD 3650 entries in CH_xxxx and C7_xxxx config files and removing HD 3200 refs.

Install from Device Manager - select update driver - manual selection & point to update files.

Re: Lost my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650

I have a T500 with a 3650 and found this to be helpful:

Re: R400/T400/T500/W500: display driver "amdkmdap" crashes - lenovo community

I was able to install the modded ATI drivers once I uninstalled the Lenovo driver, rebooted, and entered the bios. Once in the bios go to setup->display and then select discrete graphics and set the auto detect to "no." Once I let my T500 finish booting I was then able to install the latest 9.8 Radeon drivers with no problem. I don't really care about the Intel graphics because I usually have my computer plugged into the wall. But for those who do, this obviously won't help. But it did get my 3650 updated drivers which is what I was really after.
