Can't get HD3450 to work, Studio 15

Hello everyone,
I have tried time and time but I just cannot get my 3450 to work on my Dell studio 15 laptop. It is beginning to frustrate me, I have looked in the forums and followed the instructions on the homepage.
Could someone please post some detailed instructions for this and also how to get the Catalyst Control Panel too work, but not overly complicated instructions. Or any other helpful comments would be greatly appreciated. Note I have recently installed Xp Home on it, it use to have Vista Home basic.

Dell Studio 15-37
Intel t5900
4gb ram
ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450

I am not familiar with your system and don't own a laptop but didn't want to see this unanswered. Not sure if this helps .. if not hope ya get it solved.

Make sure you have the latest drivers from ATI or Dell. Make sure your registry is cleaned of old entries before installing the new driver. On the mobile stuff I am not really sure on the CCC but as far as I am concerned if the drivers are installed correctly the CCC should work.

Perhaps someone else can help more

1) do you have MS .NET 2.0 SP2 Framework runtimes installed? Either grab them off Microsoft's website or windows update if you don't.

2) Reinstall the driver set. Make sure CCC is ticked in the installer.

3) Do you have the red ATI icon on your tasktray?

EDIT: just de-Vista'd an almost-identical Studio 1537 -- ATI driver works perfectly
sidenote: wish Dell would release a WinXP version of Quickset for this model though

Sorry to contact you but i am confused i am trying exactly the same as a bove and have got everything working on XP accept the ATI hd3450 the message comes up catalist instal manager failed tio initialise

How do i get arround this

Buddy I'm having some issues with the same card on another latpop.

Are you trying to use a modded package of the 9.7 drivers (modded using ATI Mobility Modder?)

After you click OK/Cancel on the ATI CCC error and go into device manager are any devices showing Exclamation marks or errors under display adaptors (likely they are).

Post back with the error code that is shown.. mine is 43. Might be that we are having the same problems (same card probably) and the driver modder admins can investigate further.

Also from the details TAB on the properties of your grphaics card in Device Manager..select the Hardware ID Tab and copy the first line and post it back here.
i.e mine is PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C4&SUBSYS_210F17AA&REV_00
Which is bascially a 256MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3450 in a T400 Lenovo laptop.

I know it's frustrating but the people here are awesome and the more info you give us the better. If your completely lost PM me and I can add you on Skype or some other IM program and help you get the details you need.
