8.12 issue on 3850 X2

Colleagues,
just owned brand new ASUS W90n with 3850x2. Nice peace of aluminum, but I having trouble with video drv upgrade. Im a noob (but using Tool for all my ASUS notes) in this area of knowledge, so pls help.
Modded 8.12 killing me with incompatible driver, crazy fan speed, messae of absence of any ATI hardware on CCC launch. Only deep removal and cleaning giving me an option to install 8.11, but it works bad, even original Cats was faster in Crysis WH. Original ones (dunno remember its #) was removed and stupid ASUS support forget to add it to download page.
Please, tell me, is it any trouble with X2-ver or crossfire in 8.12 or I just dumb. Should I mod memory settings and how? This card has 2*512 or one 1gig or its two cards? Windows and CC showing it as 2 separate cards, but w/out options for crossfire in CC. And if you know, which ver of Cat more appropriate for such card.

Many thanks in advance and please help me justify $3,5K expenses to my wife...)

Im still unable to install 8.12 on my Vista 64 with 3850X2. Getting no ATI hardware message. Any suggestion why?

I don't have 2 ATI cards to Crossfire just a single 4870 so not sure how much help I can be. I have been running the 8.12 Cats without issue but did note in another thread that this driver version is very sensitive to previously installed drivers under X64.

I came up with the same error installing 8.12 because I still had an NVidia PhysX driver from a previous driver install resident so make sure you have all previous drivers uninstalled and the registry cleaned and up to date.

All the advise I can offer hope it helps ...

You might also try out the Cat 9.1 release MIG-31 posted up for us HERE

(I am going to try and replicate the issue I had with the 8.12 this weekend using these I didn't have it with the 8.11)

if i remember right, you are going to need to get the Sapphire or Asus drivers for that card since its not an official ATi release.

no no no, 9.1 installed w/out any issues with mobility modder. works great and fine. even ATI overdrive is up. dunno know is it correct to use it on notebook's cards?
