windows 7 users, dont need to use mobility modder!?!?!
well i went into ati's website and under windows 7 if u go into mobility radeon they have drivers for mobility series hd radeon hd 4000, hd radeon hd 3000, and hd radeon hd 2000!! So i installed the second driver seeing that i have the hd3470 card WITHOUT MODDING and it installed!!!
I guess ati is supporting laptops with these cards now. But on the downside these are still in beta and i got pretty poor performance compared to the WDDM Microsoft drivers. So are Ati really starting to support those series which they werent before?? |

remember this could be temporary as it's a beta driver and beta os from the start....
if i recall right, alot of the orginal pre vista drivers would install without modding to..

Re: windows 7 users, dont need to use mobility modder!?!?!
if i'm correct, mobility modders are there to modify normal gfx card drivers to use them on notebook GPUs and get more performance than the outdated official mobility drivers
i did use it to modify Nvidia's 182.50 Vista x64 drivers to install them on Win7, and games are running pretty good! (i'm trying to avoid beta drivers, so i'm sticking with these) |

Re: windows 7 users, dont need to use mobility modder!?!?!
of course you can! when the Win7 beta came out, do you think there were drivers for it? you needed to install the latest Vista ones, and everything went well like that...
i've recently clean-installed the RC and installed all the drivers the same way as in the beta, and everything's fine as before, with the improved performance of the RC of course... well, i'm not sure if ATI's Vista drivers will work by modifying them, but they should work, give it a try... to install them, just follow the instructions (included?) of the mobility modder good luck! let us know how it turned out

that's because Win7 support is included, as it's just a beta, there will either be a seperate Win7 Package, either that or they will make it like they did when XP/2k were out, Since they use the same structure.

Re: windows 7 users, dont need to use mobility modder!?!?!
both nvidia and ATI are making specific mobile graphics drivers now anyway. they don't work on all hardware however as some OEM's have still enforced restrictions on drivers for their specific laptops.

Re: windows 7 users, dont need to use mobility modder!?!?!
yes i installed the beta driver for mobility hd 300 series but get extremely poor performance compared to vista or the WDDM drivers. I think i'll just wait till they come out of beta...

It's hard to say... as more manufacturers open up.... some may restrict still...
obviously a beta on a beta isn't going to be supported on any device by the company... .so there isn't going to be a problem where the manufacturer is going to be upset.... ![]() Only thing you can do is wait and find out

Re: windows 7 users, dont need to use mobility modder!?!?!
Hello. Is there any complete "how to" - how i cann install Ati drivers in Windows 7 32 bit? Because there so many instuctions that now i am only confused. I have ati x1800 on alienware 5750. And no of these instructions are working for me or something i doing wrong. Only catalist is working but driver is the same from 1.12.2008. Cann somebody send me pm or write down what is working for ati x1xxx cards ?
