Hi!
I want to install Windows 7 on my LG P2(P1 for Emerging Markets) with ATI Mobility Radeon X1400, but should modify ATI Catalyst drivers. I have known only two ATI Catalyst drivers can successfully be installed on DX9 ATI Radeon graphics for desktop computers under Windows 7, the Catalyst 9.3 and the Catalyst 'LEGACY' 9.8(doesn't mean the Catalyst 9.8!). But the DH ATI Mobility Modder 1.2.1.0 was released earlier than the Catalyst 'LEGACY' 9.8(doesn't mean the Catalyst 9.8!). ![]() Which of the two ATI Catalyst drivers with the DH ATI Mobility Modder 1.2.1.0 is better for DX9 ATI Mobility Radeon graphics for notebook computers? The Catalyst 9.3 or the Catalyst 'LEGACY' 9.8(doesn't mean the Catalyst 9.8)? ![]() I need your help!

AW: Which of the two ATI drivers with MobilityModder is better for DX9 Mobility graph
Very good question indeet!
I was thinking about the very same question ... Using 9.3 or 9.8 legacy for x1400 Mobile. Both work very good at my Computer, under Windows Seven but wich is better? I found out so far: 9.3 + supports VDDM 1.1 (as x1400 doesn't has directX 10, does it make a diffrence on anyway?) + official Windows 7 support + official support for x1400 Mobile - older (any significant performance handycap?) 9.8 legacy + newer - supports only VDDM 1.0 (any significant performance handycap?) - no official Windows 7 support - no official support for x1400 Mobile (the VDDM 1.0 is due to no official support for windows 7) Would be great to get an opinion from an expert ![]() Edit: 3Dmark05 gave me 1725 Points with 9.8 and 1699 Points with 9.3 driver. I wonder how representive this is... Last edited by Timetraveler; Sep 10, 2009 at 08:46 PM. Reason: I added the benchmark results |

What happens, dear friend, is that 9.8 "legacy" was made for DESKTOP only. You can't install it on mobility cards.
For mobility cards you still have to get mobility 9.3 for win7 - http://www.hardwareheaven.com/windows-...ity-cards.html |

As you can read above: I did install successfully both of the drivers.
I just asked which one is better - Unfortunately that's not covered by your linked threat. |

Bump--
I also would like to know. (I'm using the x1700) 9.3 or legacy 9.8 or maybe the next legacy installment? |

With the realese of the legacy 10.2 the question still has to be answered ...
9.3 or 10.2 legacy ... normaly I think I would pick the 10.2 but what makes the story even more complicated, is that I now installed a Geforce GT 430 in my Notebook Dockingstation (Thinkpad T60) and want to run windows 7 dual Graphiccard. So the Geforce supports Dx10 - do I limit it if I pick the VDDM (legacy) driver for my internal x1400? |
