I just noticed something that worries me...
In DH Full system info, my level 2 cache speed is listed as 540 mhz. My cpu is running at 1621. (I think it's really 1622)- But should my level 2 cache be that speed???? It s a Palamino 1800xp OC'ed a little. 1.84 volts, 43 degrees. Thanks. L1 is usually full speed and L2 is usually half the speed of the processor atleast last time I payed attention to that kind of thing, which was backwith my P2 333mhz CPU but they might have lowered it to 1/3 the speed of the CPU or something like that

I will look into it and see if i can find out how that is by AMD cpu's.

CPUS... L1 FASTEST-(super expensive ram/cache/less of it) FULL CPU SPEED OR 2/3 L2 NOT AS FAST- (cheaper ram/cache/more of it) USEALLY 1/2 1/3 CPU SPEED cpu cacheing is... explained here http://www.systemlogic.net/articles/00/10/cache/ EDIT: oops well thats how it is on older cpu's

the pIII your sig 933mhz.. slot or pga and celerons are acually redeighned PIII's now are they not?.....what you think thier based on pII's nope... they used to be untill the redesighn to the use of the p3 core when ever intel redid the like 1.5 / 2 ghz celerons .. they used the pIII CORE.... i have been told thats why the celeron even beats/or meats the p4 in a few benchmarks. ...

So if the L2 runs a full clock speed, whats the difference between L1 and L2?

I'll have to retest now that I have a new MoBo- Maybe DH System info misread my speed because I had an old MoBo before.

..... actually, i haven't checked since i overclocked..but there shouldn't be a change..... I can say that it's weird seeing a bigger jump in preformance going from 2800+ to 3000+ compared to 2500+ - 2800+

You have something wrong....something is corrupt or bad maybe. 3DM 01 is reading your info correctly, but nothing else seems to be. You have an 1800, 9700 Pro, and the NFS-7 MB. What cooling and memory are you using? Also what BIOS version are you using, and when was the last time you flashed/updated it?

but when I set it a certain FSB that do not get reported correctly- it still is actually going at that speed. I dunno- I figured it was because I'm using a Palamino after they tested the MB for a 400mhz fsb Barton. I cleared the Cmos though- so that should have no affect now- I am using a messed up ram config though- I blame it on that- I got 512mb PNY pc2700 in slot one and 256mb Crucial pc2100 in slot 3- BUT, it works, and it gives me a faster rig, so I'm not going back to single controller config- but I am planning on getting some faster matched sticks soon.

The memory is most likely the problem. Since you are running 2700 and 2100 memory......your memory is limited by the lesser stick....the 2100. With your set up......if you were to run a single stick of 512 PC3200 or PC3500 memory and a Barton 2500+......your system would ROCK!!! You would gain 4000+ pts on 3DMark 2001 at least. Just running the faster memory would give you a nice boost. The NF2 board is very picky when it comes to memory. I would suspect that is the corruption problem.
You should run Sandra memory benchmark with both sticks in....then just the 2700 in......to see what the scores are when compared. Having mixed sticks is most likely playing havoc with your mother boards memory timings.

Oh, and I ran mem test86 12 hours w/ this current config before I installed windows to make sure there were no errors, I think it's just messing up the reporting/ detecting somewhere. Although this PNY memoery is crap- My crucial pc2100 mem will run faster on it's own than the PNY 2700 will on it's own- and the mem timings are VERY sensitive ww/ the PNY- It won't run cas2 EVER at any speed- and throws up errors all over the place by itself in any mobo at any other timings than default or slower- I got it on a trade for BF1942, It has a lifetime warantee, I may RMA it anyway- but it does run error free at this speed/ and timimgs... The NF7 is bran new- I hope it's not screwed up- I think it reports the wrong memory speed no matter what I do at certain FSB speeds??? Everything in windows usually reports things correctly though.. And yes, that's the direction I'm heading- faster mem, faster CPU- then I'll be set
