3Dfx missing
This program is great, but has a big mistake. Do not know the 3Dfx cards, so once i try a voodoo video card and put back an Nvidia GeForce, i can not start may games. OpenGL driver error. I can not remove the 3Dfx drivers.

@stevvie: I don't know how you can set it back, but i know for sure that Driver Cleaner doesn't removes it.
@w.miki in the new 2.7 there will be new cleaning files.

Stange that as many people have had the "standard vga driver" go missing only after using driver cleaner. Check the Boards at rage3d, and a few here. It's just a strange coinsidence.

Yes i read that and i know exactly what it removes and it is not because of driver cleaner. Also it is possible that the driver uninstall of the official drivers do it, i have no idea. Also people until now only said it, i have not seen anyone post real prove of it. Also if you use the backup function than you can see what it removed and there is nothing from ms by it.

I know what it removes and i can't post it here. In my early programs the files were not protected and somebody stole the info from the cleaning files to make his own cleaning program. Since than i protected it and improved them a lot. So sorry that i can't post it, i hope you understand.
But what happens when you try to select the standaard vga drivers? are they still there or not or do you get an error? I can always try to make a program that can reinstall them if i can find out how ms does it. I know my program doesn't delete it, but i can try to help if i could write something than it would help a lot of people. Also a lot of problems people report to me happens with others if they don't use Driver Cleaner. I think the uninstall programs of the big companies are not completely good. I will start looking.

One feature I'd appriciate very much is removing specific parts of chipset packages.
Right now I can't install the latest OpenAL dll's because the installer thinks I'm using an nforce2 audio device because of some remaining residue. A feature like that in 2.7 would sure be great.

when i use driver cleaner to erase ati files, the files come right back. I check the system32 folder, and when cleaning, I see them dissappear and spawn right back. The files aren't read-only when I check its properties. ANy solutions??

Windows XP has a lot of baseline files protected by an automated protection, but it only restores really old basic files that doesn't lead to any problems when it comes to installing a newer driver. Just run Driver Cleaner in safe mode, reboot, then install the driver package.
If/when Windows asks about installing drivers for the card right after that reboot then just let it do it's thing automatically. It will either report that there is no drivers to install, or install the baseline drivers. That's not a problem for the installation of a full driver package. |

Smokejaguar i have that same thing. it only happens with the latest ati drivers. I am still looking where those files are. To work around that uninstall the ati drivers and cp wit the ati software uninstall tool. Than run Driver Cleaner and all is ok.
