i have this major problem with Americas Army that when i get flash-bang thrown at me my game crashes

now a lot of people tell me that i have to uninstall my dirctX driver (and the catalyst driver, but i think i can do that)

i am running Windows XP with a Radeon 9600 Pro 128 mb, and dunno wich catalyst (last one i installed was 3.10) driver im on because i read that a the updates wont uninstall the old driver wierd

well i need to know where i can get a tool to uninstall the directX driver propeply and a proper mamual of some sort

im also a little confused about the directX 9.0. IS it out ??? I have a copy of direct 9.0b (is 9.0 better than 9.0b?) wich i think im using ??? but can my Radeon run dircetX 9.0 ???

the Radeon 9600 pro is a directX9 card so yeah it supports all directx 9 functions, directX 9.0b is newer then 9.0.

* Try reinstalling the catalyst driver
* Try Omegadrivers Http://www.omegacorner.com
* Try reïnstalling the game

have just tried drivercleaner
i uninstalled what i could with windows and then used drivercleaner 2.6 in secure mode
then i installed omega 2.5.0.4 and tried the game. no effect, still freezing
then i did the excact same thing again but installed Catalyst 3.10 instead

i dont know what to do now

i heard that the proplem was caused by directX and that i had to use a program called 'directX buster', but i heard that there should be a better program for windows XP to remove directX. do u know any programs like that

im seriously close to reformat my pc please help me out on this one

Don't think there is one, here on this siteat Dr,dynds are 2 dx removers but not for XP afaik.
Is AA the only game that is troubling you? maybe it has nothing to do with the ATI, could be sound or even system (AGP/chipset drivers uptodate) related, what about your PSU is that good (>400w)enough?

exclamation

I've got a utillity at home (i hope i still have it) that can delete dx9 and reinstall dx8.0 from the windowsxp cd (required)
I've used it myself multiple times while testing the various dx9 betas and it does it job.

if you really need it, say so, then i will dive in my backups to retrieve it for you.

thanks but no thanks

i dont think its that simple
i read somewhere that its the old directX files (from older versions) that is causing the problem and if i get the 8.0 back i would have to reinstall 9.0b again. i think it would do the same again

and its not just on AA it does this, and i know that it really is the directX and ATI drivers that causes it. a few other on the AA boards has reported this flaw but has used the new Catalyst driver to fix it

and my pc specs is ok
1700+ Athlon processor and 512 mb ram
