Modded Cat 4.9 does not install OpenGL driver
I purchased Doom 3 around a month ago and have been running it fine on my Thinkpad T42p with a Mobility Fire GL T2 and the IBM stock driver. However one of the things that has been annoying me with the stock driver is that it does not support DVI output over 1024x768. This is a shame, because I have an LCD monitor that supports up to 1600x1200 resolutions.
I finally decided to fix the DVI issue and after some research I found out that the latest Catalyst drivers (4.9) combined with Patje's mobility mod fix it. I downloaded the Catalyst drivers, modded them and installed them. The DVI issue was fixed and I now have a beautiful 1600x1200 desktop on my LCD. However when I try to run Doom 3 I now get the error: ERROR: The current video card / driver combination does not support the necessary features [Full log at the end of this message.] After some research I found out that the modded Cat 4.9 setup program did not install an OpenGL driver. I cannot find any file named atioglxx.dll (or atioglgl.dll) in my \Windows\System32 folder. Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be any entries under the registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\OpenGLDrivers. Copying the file manually into the \Windows\System32 folder does not fix the issue. Many thanks for any help. Hi mate,
welcome to DH, i'm looking into this issue, it seems fireGL card need some other way of modding than I currently use so i'm looking into a way of doing this, but it might take some time.
