modder - how safe is it?

i know,
this question was probably asked something like a million times.
but i'll try anyway - is the modder safe to use?
i know that as far as IBM concerned, any use of driver not from their website completely removes the warrenty which got me to think - are there any known cases that the modded drivers caused system crashes (not that bad), damage to the operating system (a little bit more serious) or PHYSICAL DAMAGE to the graphic card or any other component (that what scares me the most...).
your answers would be greatlly apriciated.

well i 've been using the catalyst drivers modded by patje and i neverb had any trouble about acutally they do work fine,well at least on my system. i have presario notebook2500,radeon igp345m 128mb ram

well, i've never had anyone complaining i screwed up their computer. but in the end it's your decision and responsability

I have been using the mod tool for a while now and if anything I thing having up to date drivers has helped my card. I seriously don't think it would hurt your computer in any way.
