CD problems, eject not working
Hello,
Is there any posibility that running DH drivercleaner could have caused my CD eject button to stop working? I have a dell latitutde with a sony cd-rw crx700e removable drive. I've manually opened the drive using a paper clip but now the drive will not recognize that a cd has been changed. Any suggestions on verifying checking cd drivers and general diagnosis? Phil |

Perhaps your CD drive is locked by a program (e.g. Nero or Alcohol). Try turning off your PC and restarting it

Try some cable juggling. My friend had the same problem for two months, and a few days ago I went toher place to install a new drive. It behaved exactly the same! Then we took back the old one, unplugged other devices and tried with their cables and it worked. Then we tried its old cable and it also worked. In the end we put everything as it were before I came. Still works. My guess is that there might be some oxidized contacts that were cleand by plugging and unplugging. (You might as well try a more sofisticated method.)

pbarr it is not possible that Driver Cleaner caused that. I think like the others said that another program locks it or that there is a failure in the drive or a bad cable. Best is to see if you can open it in safe mode or check the cables. BTW does the led still blinks when you start the notebook? if not then there is a power problem or the drive died.
