DHMod for FireGL?

I have modified (using Riva Patchscripts) a Mobility Radeon 9800 to FireGL X3. However, it only works with an external monitor - or (after modding .inf file) at 1400x1050 resolution (with black strip on RHS of screen) instead of 1680x1050 screen resolution.
I have read about similar issues when modifying Catalyst drivers for mobiles in this forum and these all appear to be fixed.
Is it possible to use DHMod tool on FireGL drivers (Riva will only 'patch' 8.083 or earlier versions)? Or is there another way?
I am not aware of a 'mobility' FireGL equivalent of 9800 and the FireGL drivers are far better for CAD - I did not know this when I purchased the Inspiron 9100 laptop.

well, as the creator of the modtool, i must admit that i still don't know. I've been looking into it for a while but it's hard to do without the proper equipment to test with.

Thanks for your reply Patje. I read the thread you suggested but although I have tried various edits of .inf's etc I have had no more luck. If you don't have an answer, well I don't think I have the skills to find one!!
Would be happy to trial anything if you have suggestions.
