DriverCleaner/CAB Cleaner deleted OpenGL?

Hi. Sorry about this but I'm pretty noobie about hardware type things (generally hate having to do anything myself in fear of screwing it up, just like my system running and enjoy it ).

Anyone I used Drivercleaner and Cab cleaner a few days ago as per the instructions and installed the latest (77.77 or whatever it is) nVidia drivers. Anyway after that I noticed that OpenGL is borked. My OpenGL screensavers and games (Half-Life and it's mods) all crash on startup.

Worth mentioning I have previously used drivercleaner before (I think), and had no problems afterwards, but this is the first time I used Cab cleaner, and I cleaned like 3 entries. One nVidia one I think (my memory sucks) and 2 labelled service pack 2 (SP2).

Sorry if there is already threads here it's just there are heaps of forums and it's late at night :/.

I would try to just uninstall the drivers, use driver cleaner in safe mode again, and then reinstall the drivers.

I have used cab cleaner quite a few times, but haven't on this latest SP2 installation of mine. Are you sure you let cab cleaner finish? It takes a LONG time sometimes..

I'm pretty sure I let CAB cleaner finish. What exactly is it doing? I assumed that it was removing the default drivers from the SP/XP install so that the "auto detect hardware wizard" thing doesn't appear anymore... which by the way I didn't let go through as per the instructions.

Did you try just reinstalling after driver cleaner in safe mode? That might do the trick.

Scapegoat, like BWX said. Uninstall the drivers again and run Driver Cleaner in safe mode and then reboot and install the drivers again in the normal windows.

Driver Cleaner or Cab Cleaner can not destroy OpenGL.

I just reinstalled - twice. First time I rebooted into safe, driver cleanered, rebooted, installed and it wouldnt install (bar at 50% never changed).

After that I realised I'd rushed through it a bit. I restarted, and then uninstalled from add remove. Then I restarted in safe, drivercleanered, rebooted and redownloaded the driver (again 77.77), and installed.

Rebooted and OpenGL still doesn't work .

scapegoat, have you tried installing the driver version you had before and with what OpenGL worked? Because maybe the new opengl is only for the newer cards.
