Summer cleaning
SCROLL DOWN TO SECOND PARAGRAPH IF YOU DONT WANT THE BACK STORY.
My computer got fried by lightning about 2 weeks ago. I had a AMD 64(939) 3200+ and 1.5gb of corsair value select memory. Running a Radeon 9700 pro video card. It was all running on a soltek mobo. It was a pretty good system in my eyes. It fried the motherboard to my knowledge. Just now I ordered a x850xt pci-e card, and a new board. I chose the pci-e version of my older motherboard because it ran good and was reliable. Now to the part of my problem... I have my windows setup the way I want it. I was wondering if getting the new video card and motherboard would mess with any of my drivers I have installed. When I get them I plan on reinstalling all the drivers from scratch anyways, but Im hoping it will boot up normal to allow me do to it. 1.What program could I use to completly reset all of my drivers so it searches for them on restart? I want to keep my programs I have on it without reinstalling windows completly.(I downloaded the fear beta on 56k, plus all the valve updates for hl2 and counter strike) 2.Also are there any program that takes my process list and tells me exactly what the programs are doing/where their located? 3.Also are there any programs that do kind of a clean sweep of the systems registry to help clean up the system? 4.And what should I do if I want to do a complete clean up(aka empty firefox cache)? |

besides some of the newest games comeing out, they run amazing.
stuff such as BF2 ive got all the graphical settings at max with 4xAA and 16xAF and average 40fps or so at 1024x768. HL2, the stress test comes out at 119fps with 6xAA 16xAF, everything max, 1027x768 doom3, ultra settings, 2xAA 16xAF 1024x768 very rarly drops below 30fps. that should give you a pretty good over view of how things run.

Thats awesome. The reason im upgrading my video card is because it would run fast, but sometimes it would just randomly drop to 5fps and such.(thats without aa and af) I cant wait to see the improvement!

Hi warder.
If all goes ok then windows will boot and reinstall all needed drivers. You can than do what you want, but i recommend a windows reinstall after that.

I think not, because all those things have installed files and registry items. If you do not reinstall windows after a new motherboard, the chance that you will get problems is bigger.
