HonkusWhiteus is on a distinguished road

ATI IGP deleted my Silicon Image Drivers

I used Driver Cleaner (the latest version) for the first time today, and boy did I screw things up. I followed all the instructions shown in the readme for uninstalling ATI video drivers, but selected the ATI IGP cleaner as well, not knowing that it would completely screw my system up. Now, I can only get as far as the Safe Mode options screen, and no matter what mode I select it always reboots.

I know now that when I selected the ATI IGP, it deleted my Silicon Image Drivers for my hard drive. I got the files I needed and went in to Recovery Console, hoping I could just copy those files over and thing would be fine. Not so. Every time I try copy a file, I get an "Access denied" error.

Is there any way I can get these files copied over, or am I screwed?

Try useing / holding F8 while booting says starting windows
and selecting the last "known good configeration" on bootup.
should do it...

If you not allowed to copy files over make sure you logged in as an admin
in that dos recovery/repair type screen you ge when booting from the CD and
chose what ever start that recovery console...

Worst case do a "repair install" on XP, but incertain the CD,
telling it you want to install windows (not the recovery reapair
crap that goes you a dos like window.) then select sotheing that
along the lines repair install. It reinstalls windows but leaves
your data intact....But I'd wait and see what others have to say....

HonkusWhiteus it is very simple to explain. The ATI IGP filters (3 filters) are only to be used when you have a motherboard with an ATI chipset and when you want to remove that. The ATI IGP also uses a silicon chip for the sata and raid, so when you selct that it deletes the drivers of that. The best is not to use the ATI IGP ones. Also read the Filters page in the help file.

Somebody mailed me and also made the mistake by accident. He told me this:
The fix for this problem is to boot from the Windows XP CD and enter the recovery console, then manually copy the files to the windows\system32 directory. Once the driver is in place, the system will boot normally with no data loss.

Here is a list of the files that could be deleted.
windows\system32\SilSupp.cpl
windows\system32\Drivers\SI3112.mpd
windows\system32\Drivers\SI3112r.mpd
windows\system32\Drivers\SiISupp.vxd
windows\system32\Drivers\SI3112.sys
windows\system32\Drivers\SI3112r.sys
windows\system32\Drivers\SiWinAcc.sys
