Driver cleaner pro.
I have this installed and as of yet have never used it. I am running an Asrock dual sata II board. I had an 9800 pro in my system prior to going to a 7800GT. I have never had any problems with driver installs before but wondered if I should run driver cleaner when I upgrade to my next driver set. Can I uninstall nvidia driver, reboot into safe mode remove ati remove nvidia and then reboot and install? OR doi I need to boot into safe mode, remove ati with DC, reboot, remove nvidia driver, reboot into safe mode, remove nvidia with DC and then reboot and install new driver? I have the ati driver removed via the removal from add remove but noticed I have some ATI remenants in sys 32 folder. Would there be any real benefits to doing this if I have had no problems ever that I know of with drivers?

A) Remove the ati cats (you should not have any nvidia drivers installed) it's one or the other only.
B)Boot up into safe mode C)Use DC for the ati card... do not install any driver yet.Run cab cleaner form DC..including the cab for sp 2 (DC should remove all the remanance for you) D)switch you're pc off completely. E)Remove the power cord from the mains. F)Remove the ati card, then install the new card. And power up again. once done re-install you're chipset drivers again and reboot, when done install the nvidia drivers of youre choice. this works for me but it could be more preferable to re-format and start from scratch. |

I guess ya dont understand =) I have the card out already and removed the ATI drivers from the pc via add remove progs a looooong time ago. I was looking around and found some ATI entries still on the PC so I thought I may as well run driver cleaner to get rid of them. BUT I was also going to try the new 83.90 drivers I have been hearing alot of good things about.

remove the nvidia drivers current drivers you are using now, then boot into safe mode and run DC for both Nvidia & ATI....one after the other then it could be worth running the cab cleaner also. This can be done one after the other without the need to reboot in-between. Once done install the 83.90's,can be installed in safe mode unlike ati drivers. |
