i found her
from the old trunk I pulled out the box of Swisher Sweets.
My name and age I wrote in 1976. On the lid I read in my careless script a collection of photographs and print. A coin, a token, a blurry image from my youth a memory I had forgotten and spent. cropped and cut, wrapped in the paper I found the face of my first love. She bore the likeness of everything I desired for a clumsy boy my love was so blind Our dangerous encounters after school we burned like fire warm memories now that ease my mind. Every lover's face that I found never compared to soft supple firm body, green eyes and golden hair Of my very first she remains with me now. a world away, a picture and pressed flower. And I felt so much better after all these years I found her again.
