Mac Daddy

Awaken....

As you awaken you observe a sombre red glow filtering through the opening of your tent. Your friends must still be sitting around that huge campfire from the party earlier.

That’s strange as you don’t remember going to sleep!

Pulling on your pants you grab a beer and venture outside. You’re hopeful that the girls from across the lake showed up after all.

You stand frozen in disbelief. Before you are the stones surrounding a fire long since burned out. Three charred skeletons encompass the fire site.

A warm prickly heat on the back of your neck causes you to turn around. Suspended far above and beyond your tent is a sight you have never seen. The yellow comforting light of the sun has been replaced by an ominous red sphere. It casts its glow over a dry barren wasteland turning it into a sea of blood!

The world starts to spin as you lose conciseness. You see a flash of light and then darkness...

You awaken at the top of the cliffs near the lake where everyone pulled up in theirs cars. You glance over to where the camp was below and notice a flashing light that could be a torch. You wonder who might now be down there, but you don't take your chances. You jump in your car and check to see if your keys are still in your jeans pocket. They are! You start up the car and roll down the window, The car fills up with flying bugs and you slightly panic. As you drive off they get blown back out again. You don't look back, but keep on driven!

It's the first part of the prelude to a novel I have been working on since 1995. I can't seem to find the Word files I typed out so retyping it from written and thought I would share a bit

OK Frankie here is the second part of the prelude I typed this out this morning between errands

Awakening....

Awakening, your eyes slowly adjust to the brightness surrounding you. Rays of sunlight beam down in a focused column of light.

Yellow light....

As you clear the cobwebs from your mind, you realize the light is pouring through a rent in an enormous cavern. You’re not even outside anymore!

What is happening to me am I dreaming?

You quickly get to your feet and survey your new surroundings. If this is a fucking dream you’re going to get some mileage out of it! You appear to be at the end of the cavern. Only moss covered walls surround you in three directions. You have no supplies, no tent, not even a goddamn beer....

Taking a deep breath you proceed in the only direction you can. As you continue forward the cavern becomes narrower, almost as if its arrow shaped. The roof has risen out of site although light still filters down from far above.

Walking along in almost a trance now you are startled by a sudden gleam of metallic light just ahead. A few moments later you are standing in front of a staircase which seems to spiral endlessly upward. On either side of the staircase are two wooden black posts supporting large brass serpent’s heads. Columns of light are perfectly focused on the statues giving them an almost magical gleam. At the foot of the staircase is a simple wooden signpost almost completely covered in thick green moss. You approach the sign and rub off some of the moss revealing...

For some strange reason the names Haven and Julius seem remotely familiar. You walk over and sit at the foot of the stairs collecting your thoughts and eventually decide that you have no choice but to continue. As you climb the staircase you hear loud creaking and grinding noises. From the condition of the stairs you almost expect to see a sign labelled.... Built by Dacon!

Hours later you collapse on the upper platform of the staircase exhausted. This platform is a huge marble platform with only one distinct feature. A large golden door sits directly in the center and after a short rest you approach it. Engraved on the door is a single word...


As you walk around the door it turns with you and there is nothing else on the platform. Finally deciding things can’t get any stranger you turn the handle. You are blinded by a light the intensity of which you have never seen. Feeling your senses overload you fall through the doorway and back into darkness...

I wonder what the light was? A very good story so far. Would make for a great culture shock short story I think. What do you think?

I have been told this is more like a screenplay for a movie by an old friend of mine that has read the first book. Others think it might make a good theme for a video game.

So not sure Bro I have about 1100 pages of the main to retype and edit as well as the final part of the prelude I will post up.

Alone in a strange room...



As I look around it reminds of being under the sea with
all of the creatures swimming around me.

It is in it's place.

Waiting beyond anything imaginable is something not even I
can give in to understand.

All as it is written has been completed except the moon
crossing which will decide the fate of the one who waits.

Better late then never the last part of the prelude and all I can really post before I am finished editing the book. I am not sure it will ever be a best seller but I do enjoy writing and this one has always stuck with me.


Awakened....

You are awakened by the sound of a chirping blue jay. Opening your eyes you peer from your bed into a very rich looking bedroom. From behind you a voice says, “Julius welcome back to Haven”. Spinning your head around in alarm you see a creature standing by the head of the bed. Although you see right away it is not an evil looking creature. Standing half your height with a humanlike form but is covered in fur of bright silver. It’s peering curiously at you through deep gold eyes.

“Who are you?” You exclaim.

“I am Talshir don’t you remember me?”

“No I don’t and who is Julius”

Talshir approaches you and rests a gentle hand on your forehead.

“You are Julius come with me and I will tell you a story ....”
