Listen to my band - Sink
Check out two songs I recorded during a rehersal session.
Song 01 Song 02 We are rehearsing at a local public 7-9th grade school so the equipment we use aren't the best One of the guys in the band is a music teacher at that school so we are borrow their rooms one the weekends. But who wants to drag amplifiers and drums 5 kilometers every time you have to rehearse. So we also borrow some stuff from their. So if you think the instruments sound crap...they do A Squier guitar that constantly gets out of tune isn't that much fun Luckily I play on my own Fender bass, which is quite good heheSo let me know what you think about the songs. Don't write that it's out of tune, I already know that ![]() Oh...by the way. It's recorded with a MD recorder and one condenser microphone plugged directly to the MD. Those cheap microphones for about 120$ (with todays currency). So not the best recording quality. Last edited by Gardinen; Sep 26, 2004 at 12:32 AM. |

Not my type of music at all...but for the type it is...not bad. The singer, as I'm sure you know, is drowned in the mix, which if you are a guitarist, who cares...
Seriously, not bad stuff.

All I had was one track so... It's just recorded for fun. And with only one stereo microphone, placed in the middle of the room, it's kind of hard getting it all to sound the way you want But thanks though on the complements. Last edited by Gardinen; Sep 26, 2004 at 01:04 AM. |

invest in a small powered mixer
it will allow you to input guitars and mics, and then output to a single speaker cab, or two if you want stereo sound, and will allow you to change the levels of each input

In this case, the placement of the mic, the volume or lachk thereof of each instrument, singer...whatever, would have to be considered a "mix".
I understand what you meant though. Keep jammin' man and good luck. |

Okey.
Well it was only a quick recording for fun...nothing serious. If serious, I would of course record it at a professional studio. |

you don't need a pro studio
a couple of sb audigy cards and kX in a computer will give you 8 mono inputs to record with, you just need some multitracking software - krystal is free, and is apparently quite good

But I already have the SB Audigy 2 pl. Ex., which gives me 6 inputs. I use Cubase SX. I'm working sometimes in a studio, which has some quite nice stuff. |

Okey. Sounds cool. But it's nice though to have 24 inputs so that you can record a whole band at once. A standard drumset takes about 7-8 mices.

if you get any better mixes or you guys head into a studio locally to record something id be interested to hear - I quite liked the chord progressions in parts, hard to work out whats going on though when the drummer is prominent in the mix.

Tnx Zardon...good to hear. Yeah the room we play in is quite bad too, because the acoustic is really bad in there. The sound bounces of the walls everywere.

Hey Gard. If you want some help in getting a good sound from your PC, you might try www.audiominds.com There is a guy there named Mac who has been doing pro sound engineering for years. Also, they have some pretty decent little guides to help you out.
Least that's what I hear. I have no patience for guides myself. Which is why my mixing sucks...but...maybe you have the patience for it. Avoid places like Guitarist.net as no one there will really ever help you...or anyone for that matter.
