Some short paragraphs.
got bored and decided to post some short paragraphs i did for an english class a few semesters ago. feel free to comment (constructively hopefully)...
Bob Marley 1.THE FIRST THIRD WORLD SUPERSTAR, RASTA PROPHET, VISIONARY AND REVOLUTIONARY ARTIST, Bob Marley was one of the most charismatic and inspirational performers in our time. 2. In 1964, Bob, A FOUNDING MEMBER OF THE WAILING WAILERS, produced his first hit record “Simmer Down”. 3. Over the next few years, the Wailers -- Bob, Peter McIntosh and Bunny Livingston, THE NUCLEUS OF THE GROUP, produced some 30 sides and established themselves as one of the hottest groups in Jamaica. 4. Bob and the Wailers were strong believers of Rastafari, A BLEND OF JUDIAISM AND CHRISTIANITY, THE VERY CORE OF THEIR MUSIC. 5. After two other members left the band, Bob joined his mother in America but soon left to return to the band. 6. Together they continued to produce great hits such as, “Small Axe” and “Soul Rebel”. 7. In 1970 Eric Barrett and his brother Carlton joined the band which had the reputation of being Jamaica’s “hardest” rhythm section, A REPUTATION THAT REMAINED UNDIMISHED DURING THE NEXT DECADE. 8. In 1972 they signed to Island records and in the following years began to produce many hit albums: “Catch a Fire,” “Burnin’,” “Natty Dread,” “Rastaman Vibration,” “Kaya,” “Survival” and “Uprising.” 9. After visiting Ethiopia, THE SPIRITUAL HOME OF RASTAFARI, and completing his European and American tours respectively, Bob fell ill and was diagnosed with cancer. 10. He fought the disease for 8 months but later died on May 11, 1981. 11. A month before he died, Bob received Jamaica’s Order of Merit, THE ISLAND’S THIRD HIGHEST HONOR, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Jamaica’s culture. 12. On Thursday, May 23, 1981, Bob Nesta Marley, THE LEGEND, was laid to rest. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Another Ordinary Day 1. A beautiful animal, it lay in the position of a marble lion, its head toward a man sitting on an upturned bucket outside the cage. 2. A zoo keeper at the National Zoo, Fred, bucket in his hand, slowly slipped on his black rubber boots, stood up, adjusted his overalls, and walked over to the cage. 3. Zion, a young African lion, its golden mane blowing in the wind, looked on attentively; his eyes following Fred’s every move. 4. Fred was a private detective by night, a job which was not paying too well and while feeding Zion, he began to talk about past cases he had solved. 5. A daily routine they both enjoyed, Fred would sit and talk about his experiences and Zion looked on attentively as if he fully understood everything being said. 6. “Things aren’t looking too promising for me, Zion” he said, “I’ve been doing this for three years now and I’m growing tired of it; my cases haven’t been that great either.” 7. Ever since Julia, a young attractive woman, the love of his life, left, life was rough for him. 8. He began drinking, which made him both aggressive and unfocused on the job. 9. “Well buddy,” he said as he looked at the young lion, its eyes shining brightly in the afternoon sun, “I guess this is goodbye.” 10. He stood up, dusted himself and with a deep sigh, said “And don’t give Ms. Rachel any trouble, would you, please.” 11. Zion, sensing the loss of his friend, moved to a corner of the cage and quickly went to sleep, its little body tired after the day’s events. 12. “Tomorrow will be just another ordinary day” Fred thought to himself as he walked to the main office; however, tomorrow would prove to be quite different from any other day. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shocking Events 1. When we reached Horsehead landing, lightning was playing across half the sky, and thunder roared out, hiding even the sound of the sea. 2. Horsehead Landing, a long, open, and unkempt stretch of land with a rocky cliff at the northern end projecting overthe angry sea,its waves punishing the land with brute force, was the place chosen to meet by an anonymous contact who said he had vital information about a past case that would reopen it; however, we thought differently. 3. “Real nice place this mystery contact chose to meet, huh? He surely has some REALLY IMPORTANT information,” I thought to myself as I looked across to Frank, his head moving from side to side as his eyes inspected the surroundings. 4. “It could be a trap, Frank,” I said as his fingers gripped the butt of his gun, resting snuggly in its holster and tucked neatly under his long black trench coat. 5. Secured firmly to the inside of my coat, I felt my gun, a black, 12 gauge shotgun with a silver grip, a present from my former partner at the local police department, pressed deeply into my ribs as we walked further across the field. 6. As we came closer towards the cliff I quickly checked the items I brought with me: my tape recorder, my gun, and my little black notepad to write my personal notes. 7. The person, standing near the cliff’s edge, watching out to sea, his coat blowing gently in the wind, slowly turned around and greeted us; however, we were both very surprised when the person revealed himself. 8. “Julia!!!!” I cried as we both looked on very puzzled. 9. A beautiful, young woman, Julia was Frank’s ex-girlfriend and there was a lot bad history between them both. 10. “Is this some sort of joke, Julia? Why are you are you here of all places and what is this all about?” I quickly asked. 11. Refusing to answer my questions, she turned around and headed down a path towards a dark cabin in the distance, signaling us to follow. 12. As we walked towards the cabin, the weather grew worse; massive clouds now gathered, lightning streaked across the dark night sky, casting shadows on the wet, muddy path, and thunder roared in the distance. 13. Angered and puzzled by the shocking events, Frank remained silent during our walk, his face tense and his hands clenched tightly in a fist. 14. The cabin, a place full of childhood memories both good and bad, had been beautifully renovated since the last time I saw it. 15. Julia quickly opened the wooden door, and we went inside where she fixed us some hot chocolate and then sat and told us about her dilemma. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Btw, sorry for all the underlined, italized, caps and such. they were to emphasize the english tools we learned in class, plus i'm too lazy to change them...

hahaha....a nice change of pace Drakon...you remind me of a comedian and writer of equal merit, he wasnt Jack Kerowac but he was funny and interesting. Perhaps you know of him? Its Woody Allen, accused of lechary and terribly writing and harshly judged for his style and directing he remains a cult icon, and enjoys the loyalty of millions of fans including me...check out his movies and comedy sometime..you might like it. and no, your not a Woody Allen...but he is worth a look
