constant companion
We gathered under the cottonwood tree so bare from the winter gale.
to surrender the tiny infant to the frozen earth beneath our feet. He lingered for a moment in his mothers arms and gasped and became so pale. his eyes opened for a moment, and they closed forever his journey is now complete. Mother and father fought as hard as the nurses and the doctor who held his life in his precious hands till they wept openly myself I could only swallow a tear and sigh. a tiny soul, a tiny child, a tiny member of our little family had left the womb into the cold Colorado air and he had no chance to live and quietly he died. The family swore that the little boy would be remembered and find his redemption with us all on judgement day. We laid him to rest and buried him among those that came before him, and I tossed a small flower onto the crude wooden casket, and quietly walked away... The mother and father bore their sorrow with quiety dignity and I prayed they would find their peace and outlive their sorrow. We all lose our loved ones and walk with our thoughts for death is our constant companion...as he is today, so shall he be tommorow..

I am losing my father Drakon, tonight I heard from the doctor how bad his condition is. It is sobering just how close we all are to death regardless of our age.

it was not intended to depress but life is nothing but a constant symphony of music that life and death dance to. We are powerless over the inevitable, but to enjoy life and to live it to the fullest is my only goal. Time really is the fire in which we burn.

Luckily, the inevitable things should only give us reason to enjoy the freedom that we do have. Though you'll wind up the same at the end, it's the journey that matters, the way you get there.
