Battle Cry (Shattered Soldier)

This came to mind one day while walking home. I got some inspiration from Full Metal Jacket, Metallica - Disposable Heroes & The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black.

[color=blue]Silence is all he hears now[/color]
[color=blue]Midst the land where foe and friend now lay[/color]
[color=blue]For among the dead he’s the only survivor[/color]
[color=blue]Under a great, dark sky of grey[/color]

[color=blue]Once a bum, now a killing machine[/color]
[color=blue]He stands on the battleground[/color]
[color=blue]Poised with rifle clenched in hand[/color]
[color=blue]And all his senses keen[/color]

[color=blue]Nothing but death and destruction[/color]
[color=blue]Surround this lonely man[/color]
[color=blue]And as his defenses crumble away[/color]
[color=blue]He falls to his knees and weeps in his hands[/color]

[color=blue]He cries for his mother[/color]
[color=blue]Dead and gone[/color]
[color=blue]He cries for his country[/color]
[color=blue]Whose freedom he must prolong[/color]

[color=blue]He cries for his company[/color]
[color=blue]For their lives were unfortunately spent[/color]
[color=blue]And even sheds a tear for his enemies[/color]
[color=blue]For whom he never formally met[/color]

[color=blue]Slowly this aching soldier gets off his knees[/color]
[color=blue]And dries his weary eyes[/color]
[color=blue]Then looks to the heavens and begins to scream[/color]
[color=blue]With only mutilated corpses hearing his battle cry[/color]

thanks. when i wrote it, i felt that it needed a pic. even PJ said so. so with a lil looking, this is what i found. he did the photoshopping...
